“I want to go to her now,” Xander says.
He’s the fucking tornado that will rip her off her feet.
“Nope.”
“Fucking hell, Seb!” I yell, getting agitated again.
“She needs to learn that running, even if it wasn’tawayfrom us, has consequences.”
I lean on the mantlepiece and sigh, staring into the roaring fire. “She will be upset and worried.”
“I can guarantee you, she will be flat out.”
“Fuckwit,” I mutter under my breath.
“Aha!” Seb suddenly exclaims into the morose silence.
“What?”
“An email from my dad. Oh, hell. You’re going to want to read this.”
As one, the four of us launch ourselves at Seb, gathering around him to read over his shoulder on the laptop screen.
“No fucking way!” Derek shouts. “That can’t be right.”
“I think we need to tell Faith about this now,” I point out.
“No, not yet.” Derek spits out. “We don’t have anything concrete. I need to go back home and wring that fucker’s neck until he fesses up. If he hadanythingto do with my dad’s disappearance, I will kill him.”
We watch as he storms off and slams out of the house.
“Should we go after him?”
Seb nods towards Harvey, who sighs and follows him.
“I think we need to tell Faith.”
“Agreed,” he says quietly. “But let’s deal with the issue at hand first. There are things the five of us need to discuss, our mating bite only one of them. The sooner we get her to agree to it, the safer she will be.”
“Not the way to put it to her.”
“Obviously, but you know what I mean. There isn’t a single pack in the world that would mess with her once she belongs to the St. James pack.”
“I know,” I murmur. “She needs to be safe. Did you find out why she left?”
He nods. “I know. I knew halfway to going to find her.”
I fist my hand in front of his face with a growl. “And?” He is such a smug fucker.
“Now isn’t the time,” he mutters when Harvey hauls Derek back into the office.
I grimace at him, but he ignores me. When he is like this, there is nothing in the sea, nor in the air, nor on land that could make him spill the beans.
I will just have to keep guessing until he lets us see her.
