“Fuck you both,” he snaps.

“Let her go,” Cameron says between bouts of laughter. “I wouldn’teggnore her if I were you!” He practically shrieks with hilarity.

I have to press my lips together not to laugh along with him.

“Rayne,” James’s less than amused voice rings out over the laughter. “Please can you explain.”

Well, I guess I owe him that much. With a sigh, I say, “I’m going to meet my dad. He’s at Parliament. I’m going to sort out this shitshow and then I’ll be back, hopefully with Richard. Either let me go, or it’s bags for you.” I take it off my shoulder and swing it gently.

“We aren’t letting you go alone,” he counters.

I shrug. “Whatever, follow me if you must but I’m going and I’m going now.” I march forward, fully expecting Spencer to move, which he does. Giving him a grim glare, I yank the front door open and then skip down the steps to my waiting Mercedes.

I slip inside and fire up the engine. I set off before the alphas even have a chance to get their shoes on. Slamming down the accelerator, I zip out of the square and quickly finding the Inter-pack Parliament address on the Satnav, I gun it towards Westminster, hoping that no one is on my tail, I ignore the nerves that are turning my stomach into a ball of anxiety. This is exactly what needs to be done, and Iwillsee it through for my happiness, Richard’s and the rest of the pack, I know I want to spend the rest of my life with.

ChapterThirty-Two

Spencer

“Well,” I comment as we watch the fiery omega shoot off out of the square like a bat out of hell.

“Guess we should follow,” James says with a sigh and leans over to the side table to grab the keys to the Range Rover.

“Wait,” I say and turn to him with a serious expression. “Is it just me, or do you feel that?”

“I feel it.”

“She threw us into a rut?”

“Pretty much.”

Turning to the other two alphas, I raise my eyebrow in question.

They confirm that they are also feeling it.

“What are we supposed to do?” I ask, at a bit of a loss, for once.

“Beg her to sit on our knots until we get some relief?” Cameron pipes up.

“Something tells me that won’t work,” James replies dryly. “Come on, we have some catching up to do.”

He heads off down the stairs while I rush to slip my trainers on, as do the other two. James is a serial flouter of the shoe rule, but he rules the roost. Or does he? With Richard making a short, but meaningful appearance, will things change around here?

Leaping into the car, in our respective places, James sets off.

“Is anyone going to let us know what the fuck is going on here?” Cam asks as we set on the road to Westminster.

“Short version,” James says, “Richard is being blackmailed by Rayne’s dad to give him Mick, with immunity, if he doesn’t come back to this pack. He wants to allow Rayne to mate with us, but not Richard because of his criminal past.”

“Oh, wow. What are we going to do?”

“About?” I ask.

“All of it.”

“Not sure yet. I’m thinking Rayne is going to confront her dad about Richard, which is not going to go down well. But we have her back, so here we are.”

“About the rut… do you think she feels it?”
