“I spoke to mum.”

“She said,” Dad murmurs. “She was surprised you rang, but we didn’t think anything of it. We are terrible parents. We should’ve known…”

“Stop right there. You are not bad parents. There’s nothing you could’ve done. Anyway, I also texted my cousin to tell her I was delayed.”

Dad lets out a sudden noise. “Morgan! She’ll be worried sick.”

“No, I’ve spoken to her, she’s up to date with everything.”

“Oh.” He goes quiet again.

“Then we drove to this house in Southall, while Richard and I got…close.”

“Close?” Jason queries.

“I knew what he was straight away, what he was trying to hide. It was obvious to me, because I know who he is to me now. He didn’t want the other alphas knowing. He was lost and just trying to blend in. But he knew as well as I did, that there was something between us. That’s when he started helping me. When we got to the house…”

“The one where the riot broke out and shots were fired?”

I nod. “Yes, Richard told me everything, and I allowed him to bite me on my wrist to try to save me as much as he could.”

I take a sip from the bottle of water William placed in front of me when I sat down and then I tell them everything else that happened, including how my bag saved my life.

Dad peers at it, parked next to my feet. “I’ll get you another one,” he murmurs.

“No need, this is like an old friend now. And now I guess you need to speak to these four.”

I take another sip of water as Jason questions the pack, feeling content and happy. I also feel the strong urge to go home, well, to the house in Chelsea and curl up in a comfy nest. I know that if I wasn’t on the suppressants, I would be entering my pre heat now. I don’t feel overpowered by the yearning, but it’s there, nonetheless. My skin feels more sensitive to outside factors. The denim of my jacket is rubbing roughly over my arms. My feet feel a bit swollen and sweaty in my shoes. My hands are desperate to reach out and stroke the alphas while I draw in their masculine scents, riding their cocks until they knot inside me…

Whoa. Where did that come from?

But the answer is obvious. Even though I’m not going to have a heat, as such, the mate bond won’t be denied. The alphas have gone into rut. Their scents are pungent in the small room, a delicious aroma of a pinecone in a rainforest, scattered with lemons and biscuits. It is turning me on in ways that are highly inappropriate right now. I wave my hand in my face like a make-shift fan.

“Do you feel okay?” James asks, interrupting himself to check on me.

“Yep,” I squeak, avoiding his eyes. I can’t give away the fact that I’m thinking about his cock and if it’s pierced the same as Richard’s is.

That was some hot dicking he gave me earlier.

“Perhaps a bit of fresh air,” I stammer and stand up, not even stopping to pick up my bag. I hightail it out of the room and directly to the fan that is placed on Willow’s desk, oscillating beautifully and lifting the damp tendrils of hair off my forehead and neck.

“It’s hot today, isn’t it?” Willow asks, conversationally.

“You have no idea,” I murmur, eyes closed in bliss.

She snickers. “Oh, like that, is it?”

My eyes fly open, and I shake my head. “Not exactly. I figured the suppressants would squash it completely, but it’s there…lurking.”

“Aww, hun. I know what you mean. I was on them for a while before I met my pack. You’ll be fine though. They’ll work. You’ll just feel a bit warm and nesty for a few days.”

I nod slowly.

Problem is, I’m not sure I want them to work now.

I shake that errant thought from my mind, wondering where it came from. “Nesty is right. I can’t wait to get home.”

“I think they’re done,” she says, looking over my shoulder.
