I turn and see the pack leaving the room with Jason and my dad. “Thanks,” I murmur and head over to them, feeling a bit more in control of my lustful thoughts. Until Cameron hands me my bag and our fingers touch. I snatch my hand away like I’ve been electrocuted, ignoring the deepening desire that has filled his intense gaze.

“If you can wait a few minutes, Ray-ray, I’ll finish up here and take you home.”

“No,” I say, shaking my head. “I’m going back with them.”

He purses his lips. “You are not mated yet.”

“I don’t care. It’s where I want to be.”

He chews his lip, but eventually he sees that we will get into another argument over it if he presses the issue, so he nods.

But then he ruins the illusion of being adult about it when he grabs James by his shirt front and growls, “You touch one hair on her unmated head, and I will eat you for breakfast with the rest of your pack for dessert. Got it?”

“Got it,” James says quickly, knowing a rabid Daddy alpha when he sees one. “But you don’t have to worry, Sir. We all only have Rayne’s best interest at heart. She is our everything.”

He smiles at me, and I return it, tears pricking my eyes again. Stupid emotions. Where has all of this come from?

As we turn to leave, I suddenly remember something. “Andy!”

“What?” James asks, his face creasing into a frown.

“Andy,” I say again to my dad. “He was the one who told Bryan about me. Richard said he got drunk and told them all about me and you. He is the root of this whole thing.”

“Fucking little prick,” Daddy growls so fiercely, we all back away. “I allowed him into my home, allowed him near you. I will…”

“Just arrest him and if he pisses himself while being interrogated, please video it and send it to me,” I say with a smile.

“Oh, I’ll make him piss himself. I’ll make him shit himself and throw up at the same time!”

I giggle at the thought of it. “Okay, calm down there. A stern word will make him cry.”

“Who is this Andy?” William growls, startling me with his jealousy.

“No one you have to worry about,” I reply reassuringly, patting his rock-hard chest. Saliva fills my mouth and I practically drool all over his shoes. I need to get out of here and into my nestnow.

“I’ll see you back at the house,” I murmur and with a quick kiss to my dad, I scarper back to my Mercedes and climb in, nearly jumping a mile when the passenger door opens, and someone slides in.

ChapterThirty-Six

Richard

“Fuck’s sake!” Rayne shrieks at me, clutching at her bag.

I duck, holding my hands up over my head. “It’s just me!” That bag is fucking lethal. I’ve still got a bruise on my head from where she clocked me the other day.

“Jesus! Are you trying to give me a heart attack? What are you doing here? Thought you left?” Her tone has gone from shrill to downright frosty.

“I deserve the chill factor, but can you just drive? We need to talk.”

“Humph,” she mutters and shoves her bag in my footwell, over my feet, and starts up the car. I let her manoeuvre out of the underground parking before I say anything.

“Rayne, I’m sorry I left. I’m sorry I took your dad’s deal. I should’ve fought for you. It wasn’t until we…you know…”Christ, man. You can’t even say the words.

“Had sex?” she snaps.

“Yes,” I reply calmly. “That I knew I’d made a mistake. I left to try and fix it. I was going to come back. I’ve been walking around, trying to figure out how to get Mick to trust me again, but then I knew I was going round in circles. I came back here to speak to your dad again, maybe see if he had any ideas.”

“You did?” Her face creases and she gives me a quick glance. “It doesn’t matter, anyway. I’ve taken care of it.”
