The man has black-out curtains, and I can’t see for shit after being out in the bright hallway. I squint and open the door further.
My breath catches in my throat when the sight before me is one to behold. All thoughts scatter off in a million different directions when I see James and Richard in the super king size bed, fast asleep, on either side.
My feet tingle and I move forward, climbing onto the bed and inserting myself in between them. Neither one of them budges.
I lie flat on my back and sigh. This is nice.
The calmness is ruined when Richard suddenly wakes up and leaps out of bed, his fists ready to pummel…something. Not me, because he drops them when he sees me. It’s a bummer that he’s got pj pants on.
“What the fuck?” he mutters. “Rayne?”
“Sorry,” I murmur, waking James up.
He flips over and then leaps up as well when he finds an extra person in his bed. He’s also covered up. Massive disappointment.
“I couldn’t resist,” I state boldly. “You looked so cute together.”
They both let out a protesting growl about being called cute, and it brings me back to why I’m in their room in the first place.
“Bad news,” I say, clearing my throat. I hold up my phone.
Richard takes it from me and groans, running his hand through his hair and then placing it on his injured side. I notice that his bandage needs to be changed. I’ll mention it in a minute after we get past the shit hitting the fan.
“Jesus,” he mutters and hands the phone to James.
“Fuck’s sake,” he comments and hands it back to me.
“My dad rang and said we’ve all to stay inside. They know it was me. Someone ratted me out. I’m in danger. Thought you should know that before anyone comes beating your door down trying to get to me.” I give them a sheepish smile.
“You’re safe here,” James says calmly.
“They will have to get through all of us to get to you,” Richard growls, which amplifies their differences in one sentence.
“Sorry,” I murmur. “I was trying to do right.”
“You did,” James says, sitting on the bed and taking my hand. “You absolutely did. You cleared Richard, and got the noose from around his neck, and you gave enough evidence to start rounding up these thugs. Do not apologise and don’t be afraid. We will keep you safe.”
“It’s you as well. Well, you,” I look at Richard briefly. “But you look like him, soooo…”
“We can take care of ourselves,” Richard says, also sitting on the bed with us. “You are our first and only concern.”
“Thanks,” I mutter.
“We’d better wake the others and tell them to be on red alert. They know where we live. It’s only a matter of time before they get here.” James stands up and leaves me and Richard alone.
He gives me a shy smile.
I take the opportunity to mention his bandage.
He looks down at it and shrugs. “I’ll change it later.”
I don’t want to push him, yet, so I leave it. I’ll mention it again in an hour or so. Plus, there is something else on my mind. “When you grabbed Cam’s cock, did you feel anything?” I blurt out, stunning him into backing away from me.
“Uhm…” His cheeks go red, accentuating his bruised eyes and nose.
“Sorry, it’s none of my business. I’m just curious. You touched him and I wondered, that’s all.”
He deliberates for a moment, but then shakes his head. “No. I feel nothing, one way or the other. That’s the way it is with me. You spark an excitement in me that I’ve never felt. Touching you thrills me, makes me want to cry and hold you, keep you close. Touching him is like it always was. Nothing.”
