“This had better be good,” I mutter.

“It will be,” James murmurs. “We decided on it together and we’ve all had some creative input. We hope you like it.”

The blindfold is removed, and I blink to adjust to the dim lighting in the loft conversion.

My mouth drops open.

Once I realised I was headed into the roof space, I figured it was an office or study where I could work on my law degree, but nope, it’s more than that.

So. Much. More.

“Oh my God,” I murmur, placing my hand to my mouth as tears well up. “You guys are arseholes.”

Cam chuckles and takes my hand away from my face. “Do you like it?”

“I fucking love it,” I purr, taking in every inch of my custom-built loft nest.

“Happy Birthday, Rayne,” James says, giving me a soft kiss.

“Thank you, thank you so much.” I’m so astounded by the thoughtfulness of this gift. The floor is made from one big, feather duvet type thing, hence the bare feet instruction. The walls are painted a pale pink, with a cheery yellow flower stencilled on here and there. In the corner, there is a huge, grey crushed velvet bean bag that is big enough to curl up and sleep on, with the softest blankets and pillows strewn all around it. There is a pile of textbooks next to it, so I can study while I’m nesting, and not sleeping, and a tray of food to be cracking on with.

“Seeing as you are now in your preheat, you can stay up here until you want to come back to your room downstairs,” James says. “We will wait on you hand and foot. Anything you need, just text one of us – we set up a group chat – and we will bring it to you. You don’t have to move out of here, unless you want to, of course. There is a small bathroom there.” He points to the walled-off section in the far corner.

“Don’t worry, it has a proper floor in it,” Spencer says with a smile.

I giggle and take his outstretched hand. “I’m so touched, I just don’t know what to say. It’s perfect.”

“Good enough,” William says gruffly.

Spencer leads me to the bean bag where I immediately flop down on it and purr loudly. “This is the best!”

It smells like all of their scents, which arouses me and comforts me at the same time.

“We can feel our rut getting closer,” Richard says, quietly, kneeling down next to me. “We think tomorrow might be when you go into your heat.”

I nod slowly, taking in the enormity of that.

“We will leave you in peace tonight because we won’t be able to keep away from you tomorrow.”

I grin and lean over to cup his face and kiss him. He is all healed up now and so gorgeous, he makes my eyes water. They all are.

“I can’t wait,” I murmur against his lips.

“Neither can we,” Cameron says softly. “Get some rest now, princess.”

“Thank you. This really is the best gift ever.”

“We’re glad you like it,” James replies.

I watch as they leave the loft nest, wishing they could stay, but I’m tired and hungry and I do need rest before my heat comes. I’m a bit nervous, but I’m sure it will be fine.

As I settle into my bean bag and pull a scented blanket up over me, my phone rings.

Frowning, I pull it out of my dressing gown pocket and answer when I see it’s my dad. “Hi, Dad.”

“Rayne,” he says. “I know it’s late, but I wanted you to know we got him.”

I blink and take that in. “Andy?”
