“Yes. He was found in a low-rent hotel in Lancashire.”

“Has he said anything?”

“He’s agreed to testify against Mick and Bryan, whom he spoke to that night he told them about you, and your connection to me.”

“Good, that’s good.” I pause, knowing I have to try again. “Daddy…”

“No, Rayne, we’ve spoken about this. We have enough to convict Mick and his crew of multiple crimes. You don’t need to testify.”

“But I want to! I want to make sure they go away.”

“And they will. You don’t need to put yourself in any unnecessary danger.”

I sigh. He is as stubborn as a mule. But so am I. This isn’t over. I’m just too tired and pre-heaty to argue with him about it now.

“Tell Mum, I’ll call her next week and we can arrange a dinner for all of us,” I say instead.

“I’ll get her to call you tomorrow.”

“No, next week, Daddy.”

“Why, what’s wrong with tomorrow?”

I roll my eyes and sigh. “I’ll be occupied with my heat, okay. The pack and I will be mating, happy now?”

“Oh, err, ah, yes, okay…” he stammers and then quickly says goodbye.

Smiling and shaking my head, I drop my phone lightly on the floor and wiggle into my bean bag with a happy smile and a yawn. Things are working out perfectly. I can’t wait to mate with the alphas tomorrow, and truly be theirs forever.

ChapterFifty-One

Spencer

It’s early. It’s not even light out on this freezing November morning. But I can’t stay away from her a second longer. Naked and chilly, I poke my head through the hole in the floor and catch sight of her asleep on the bean bag, the covers thrown off her and her dressing gown on the floor. Her heat has kicked in to make her hot and feverish.

“Rayne,” I call out softly. “Can I come up?”

She grunts and gives me the finger. “No, fuck off.”

My heart slams against my chest. “Oh, erm, okay, sorry…”

She sits up suddenly and grins at me. “I’m kidding, you twat. Get in here.”

Relief floods me and I return her smile. “Oh, thank fuck. I was about to curl up and die in a corner somewhere.”

She giggles. “Like I’d leave you to suffer.”

“How do you feel?” I ask, crawling over to her, approaching her slowly, warily almost in case she suddenlydoesdecide to kick me out.

“Sweaty and about to cry.” Tears pool in her eyes.

I freeze. “Did I do something to upset you?”

“No, you goon. It’s the heat. My emotions have gone craaaazy.”

“Oh,” I murmur and wonder what I’m supposed to do. Comfort her? Go away? Fuck her brains out? The last one is the only thing that I can think of, so I dive on her, gathering her to me.

I press my mouth against hers and she giggles. “Hot for me?”
