“Never worry about me, baby girl. I can take care of myself.” My tone has gone low and slightly dark.
She catches her breath. “Thank you for coming to find me. I felt lost without you.”
Her words, said so openly yet shyly, nearly have me falling to my knees in front of her. She is perfection.
I grasp her chin lightly. “I will always come for you. You are mine, remember.”
She nods, but her cheeks blush, which would alert me to her activities if I couldn’t already smell it on her.
“Tell me, Sophia. Did you enjoy taking Nico to your bed last night?”
Her gaze shoots up to mine, fear clouding her eyes.
“Do you want him, or was it a bit of fun for you?” I press her, wanting to hear what she has to say.
“Last night, I needed him,” she says. “Does that make you not want me anymore?”
“Well, that depends.”
I scared her with my words, but that wasn’t my intention. I just want the truth from her. “I know during your heat, Trent knotted you. He gave you what you needed when you needed it. As you say, Nico did last night. Can you tell me with absolute honesty that is all it was with both of them? Did you use them, and now they mean nothing to you?”
The deliberation in her eyes is deep and worried. She contemplates lying to me, but then she sticks her chin up and gives me a fierce stare.
“No, that is not true. I want them both. Yes, I used them, but it wasn’t dirty and soulless like you are making it out to be. There is something there with both of them, and if you can’t handle that, then I suggest you turn around and walk out of here, never to return.”
I chuckle and rub my bottom lip with my thumb. “Oh, you misunderstand me, Sophia. I wanted the truth from you, and you gave it to me. I can’t be with someone who will lie to protect themselves. You have admitted you care for them, and I have no problem with that under one condition.”
“What is that?”
I step into her personal space and lean down, whispering in her ear. “You are mine, Sophia. You are allowed to be with these other men, if you choose, because I say it’s okay. Do you accept that?”
She turns her face slightly so that our lips are millimetres apart. I want to kiss her so badly, my heart is aching.
“I accept that,” she murmurs. “I will inform my father that we are to be mated.”
Smiling, I shake my head. “While I appreciate the offer, that ismyjob as your future prime alpha, princess.”
She nods and lowers her eyes.
Reaching out, I lift her chin up so she will look me in the eye when I say my next words. “I want to mate with you soon, Sophia. I want you to present yourself to your future prime before you allow me the honour of claiming you, body and soul, in front of your other alphas, so they know that you belong to me. Do you want that, Sophia?”
Her breathing has gone ragged and her eyes a darker green filled with a desire that has my dick going hard.
“Yes, I want that.”
I press my mouth to hers, sweeping my tongue over her lips until she opens up so I can drive into her and twist it around hers.
She responds with a passion that I wish we could see through, but now is hardly the time for that.
“Soon,” I rasp, pulling away from her, and then leaving the sitting room before I pounce on her, teeth bared to claim her with a mating bite that will make her mine forever.

Feeling my knickers dampen from my interaction with Carter, I inhale to catch the last of his lingering scent. If I hadn’t known already that he was meant to be mine, I would’ve figured it out today. With the window of my bedroom opened but a crack, some fifty metres away from where he was standing with my dad outside, and with Nico’s scent all around me, Istillcaught Carter’s watermelon gorgeousness.
Speaking of Nico, I had better go and have a conversation with him. I realised last night that I want more from him. He loves me. More than I can imagine and never even noticed before. He treated me like a true princess, loving my body with sweet tenderness when I needed it and a rough fuck when it became too much for us to bear. I want him as part of my new pack…pack — is that the right word? With Carter as the prime and me as his mate, would he allow me to mate with Nico? Or Trent even, for that matter, if that is what the other alphas wanted?
