“What do I say?” I ask nervously.

“As little as possible,” Elijah instructs. “He will possibly try to draw you into a conversation, don’t fall for it. Ask him what he wants and if he doesn’t give it to you, threaten to leave. Try not to leave, though, until he has given us what we need.”

I nod, taking that in.

“Ready?”

“Yep.”

Jeremy grasps my elbow as I walk past. “If you need to get out of there, go. Don’t worry about anything else.”

My expression softens as he looks out for me. “I’ll be okay, but thanks for clarifying.”

Elijah snorts behind his hand as I give him a filthy look. “I’m doing my job; he’s allowed to be your uncle.”

“Understood.”

I let him lead me into the room where Pierce is sitting, unshaven and dishevelled. “Morgan!” he says, and tries to stand up, but the handcuffs attached to the metal rod in the middle of the table stop him. Kaleb slaps a hand on his shoulder, forcing him to sit from the half hover he was doing over the chair.

“What do you want?” I ask stiffly.

“Can we talk alone?”

“No.”

“Please, baby girl.”

I bite my tongue. A thousand words want to spill out about how I’m not his baby girl anymore. He must know the bond has been broken. He must’ve felt it.

“She said no,” Elijah growls roughly. “You wanted to see her. Here she is. Tell us what we want to know, and then you can talk to her.”

“Cyrus Blackstock. He’s the guy you want. He runs out of the deli on Broad Street.” Pierce’s eyes never leave mine.

I watch Elijah and Kaleb exchange a glance. They clearly know who this guy is.

Then the penny drops. “The deli you used to bring me sandwiches from?” I snap furiously.

“That’s the one,” he replies with a sheepish expression. “Mor, I’m so sorry…”

“Don’t call me that,” I grit out, my fists clenched.

“Please, let me finish.” When I stay silent, he continues. “I’m so sorry for all of this. I hate what we did to you. You deserve better than us. It was Adam. He convinced the rest of us to take a young omega and groom her to be our asset on the outside if the worst happened. We went along with it, but the three of us had feelings for you.Havefeelings.”

“Yet you let him drug me to stop me from falling pregnant,” I spit out.

Elijah’s hiss is audible in the small room. I feel his furious glare on me, but I keep my gaze on Pierce.

“We had no choice. You don’t know how dangerous he is, Mor. None of us would go against him.”

“But you are doing it now when it suits you.” The bitterness in my tone is apparent. I’m not wrong, though, and they all know it.

“The bond is broken. Yours and mine.”

“I know, and I’m so sorry. I wanted to renew it, but he wanted you weak and obedient.”

I want him to shut up. He is making this a thousand times worse. Things I didn’t want to know, things I don’t want Elijah and Kaleb to know, are just coming out of his mouth, and I’m powerless to stop them.

“I’m glad it’s gone,” I say quietly, holding onto my pain and humiliation with my head held as high as I can get it. Falling apart will come later, but I need to get my point across.
