“Does that include me?”
I peer over Nik’s shoulder to see Elijah hovering in the dining room doorway. “Always.”
He nods slowly, coming forward. “I knew that table would come in handy at some point.”
I snort. “Sorry, it was hot and spontaneous.”
“Don’t ever apologise,” he chides. “Unless you’ve murdered someone, or something equally as bad, then you can.” He grins, reaching us and holding his hand out for me.
I take it, and he links our fingers. “Are you done? I want to talk to you. All of us.”
I nod and disentangle myself from him and my lover.
Looking around for the tee, I remember it’s in the kitchen, but Nik is already going for it, returning shortly to pull it over my head.
“I love that you’re wearing it.”
“Mine now.”
He grins and lets Elijah lead me into the sitting room where Dylan and Kaleb are already assembled.
We sit as Elijah starts to pace. “I know I want to mate with you during your heat and the rut,” he says, thankfully not beating around the bush as he’s making me nervous now—old habits. When Adam paced, it was because he was angry about something.
“I want that too,” I prompt when he doesn’t continue immediately.
He nods. “But I want something now. Something tangible that tells everyone we belong to each other."
“Okay…what are you getting at?”
I glance at Dylan, but he doesn’t seem to have a clue, either.
“I want to get engaged to you. All of us, obviously. Especially Dylan. He won’t have the mate bond with you per se, so I think it would be a nice idea if you two tied the knot.”
My eyebrows skyrocket as I stare at the beta of the pack, who is shell-shocked.
“Uhm,” he mutters.
“It’s okay,” I start, wanting to reassure him that even though Elijah has put him on the spot, he doesn’t need to do this if he doesn’t want to.
“It’s a fucking great idea!” he exclaims. “I didn’t even think of it. I just assumed…” He blinks rapidly, and I go to him instantly, curling up in his lap as the overwhelming emotion overcomes him.
I hold him close to me, so he can hear my heartbeat as he gathers himself.
“I want that,” he croaks. “Do you?”
I cup his face and drop my mouth to his. “Yes, more than anything.”
He beams, clinging to me as we turn back to Elijah. He is staring at us with a loving expression, which fills my heart with joy.
“I love this idea if everyone is in agreement?”
“Yes.”
“Absolutely.”
Nik and Kaleb’s responses make my smile widen.
“Then we’ll do this soon.”
