I don’t know why he keeps using my full name. Maybe as a reminder that he knows exactly who I am, or that I’m not part of his pack, or both, and more.

Gathering my badassery, I plough forward. “Sophia and I have spoken. She has agreed to be my mate, on the proviso that you accept me as her prime alpha.”

He leans back in his chair, an almost amused expression on his face. “Oh, really? You have spoken about this, have you?”

“Yes, several times, and we both know what we want.”

“What makes you think I will agree to your mating with my daughter? You are an enemy.”

“Am I?” I ask casually. That is either a Freudian slip, or he’s not as clever as everyone thinks he is. Judging by his vicious smirk, I’d say the former.

“Are you?”

We glare at each other for a few seconds. I know I have to be the one to break it. He has absolutely nothing invested in this conversation. I, on the other hand, have everything.

“No. I am not your enemy. I am no threat to you or this pack.”

“And I’m just supposed to take you at your word?”

“Yes.”

His raised eyebrow conveys his surprise at my blunt and simple answer.

“I’m a man of my word.”

“What is your plan, though? You can’t live here and do the job you do.”

“Who says I’ll be living here?”

“Me.”

Hmm. Okay, I suppose I should’ve been excepting that. Not having thought too far ahead with regard to living arrangements, I suppose I assumed we’d be living at my house.

“There is no chance you would allow Sophia to live with me?” A man has to ask.

“No.”

Pressing my lips together, I try not to laugh. “Okay, very well. I agree to your terms.”

“Those aren’t my terms. We have a long way to go yet, boy. For starters, you have no idea the shitshow you’re about to walk into.” He lets out a loud guffaw, but I don’t get the joke. “Cain and Atlas aren’t really looking forward to meeting you.”

I want to ask who Cain and Atlas are, but then my blood runs slightly cooler.

Cain.

Sugar screamed his name while I was fucking her and tried to cover it up. Iknewshe said Cain but accepted her cover-up because it was believable.

Trying not to panic or get angry, I calmly say, “Who are Cain and Atlas?”

Quinn rises and turns to the window. “That there is Atlas.” He points to someone, expecting me to go over and look.

So I do, curiosity burning in my blood.

Staring out of the window, I see a man who has my face. Blinking rapidly as I see him laughing and joking with some pack members, I narrow my eyes.

“And Cain?” I croak.

“He is somewhere…but if you’re wondering, he also has your ugly face, so that’s what you have to deal with. Also, I’m pretty sure Nico is going to throw his hat in the ring to be with my daughter, so you either need to pack-up, or fuck off. What’s the decision?”
