Cain’s eyes shoot to mine. He shakes his head as if in disbelief. “I should’ve known about you two.”
“Meaning?” I ask curiously.
“I know a man in love when I see one.”
“Hmm. Well, we only decided last night to give things a go with us. We have been having a fling for a few years, but since the abduction, there’s been more to it. A subtle shift in how I perceive his scent, and I know Trent is largely the reason for that. He has opened my eyes about certain things and made me feel that it’s okay to explore what is going on with my body and how it reacts around certain alphas. Him, Nico…you.” I stroke his cheek gently, and he gives me a loving look back.
“So you’re saying you want me to join this group of alphas, and share you? How would that even work? Separate days, or what?”
I giggle. “I hope not. That sounds very exclusive. I want us to beinclusive.”
“Group sex?” His mortification surprises me.
“Mm-hm. Are you okay with that?”
“I’ve never shared anyone before. I’ve never had more than one partner at a time. Okay is not the word I’d use because to be honest, I have no idea.”
“Okay, I get that. I’ve never experienced it before, either. We will learn together, if you are willing?”
“What about Trent? He doesn't know about me yet?”
I shake my head. “All he requires of me is honesty. If he dislikes that I’m adding to our group, then that is something he will have to work through, but I don’t think he will. He seems quite comfortable with Nico joining us, assuming he will — we haven’t spoken about that yet. I see no reason why Trent would object.”
“This thing with Trent weirds me out,” he admits. “I don’t even know him.”
“I know. But you should. You and Atlas, assuming Atlas doesn’t know about him.”
“He says not.”
I nod slowly.
Cain narrows his eyes. “Is there something going on between you and Atlas as well?”
“I barely know him. I do find him attractive, obviously,” I say with a smile. “But I met him in the gallery for a few minutes before Nico took him out. Maybe there is something there worth exploring. I mean, there’s you and Trent, who I know are part of my destiny. Who is to say Atlas isn’t as well?”
“Fucking hell,” he mutters. “I really don’t know about any of this, Sophia.”
I take his hand and lead him back toward the compound. “Will you think about it? Please?”
“Of course,” he says quietly. “I want to be with you, Sophia. I just need to wrap my head around the how of it.”
We walk on in silence until we come across Atlas loitering outside the compound as if he is waiting for us, well, more likely for Cain.
“Hi,” I say brightly. “I’ll leave you two alone.”
“Actually,” Atlas says quickly. “It’s you I want to have a word with. Can we talk?”
“Sure,” I say and turn to Cain. “Is that okay?”
The storm in his eyes isn’t as turbulent as it was before. He smiles. “Yeah, that’s okay. I’ll catch up with you later.”
I nod and let go of his hand, wondering how my life went from being isolated every day, to suddenly being allowed to roam free with alphas all around me.
“What’s up?” I ask.
“Before that, I need to go and see your dad. Can you give me five minutes, and I promise I will tell you everything.”
I guess I don’t have much choice, truth be told, so I nod shortly. “I’ll be here.”
