“I fail to understand why no one has canceled him yet,” I point out.
“On what grounds?”
“Spying on you, for a start,” I growl, hoping he didn’t see anything more than her in her swimsuit or he is a dead man walking.
“Weeelll, spyingis a bit strong,” she admits. “It was covert noticing.”
“Same fucking difference,” I spit out. “And who is to say he hasn’t beencovertly noticingyou at other times, hmm?”
“Like when?” Her challenging stare meets my livid gaze. “Like when I’m in the shower? Or maybe when I’m rubbing one out?”
“Maybe.” The low rumble comes directly from my chest, and it lights a fire in her eyes that hasn’t been there all morning.
Turning around so I have something else to focus on, I maneuver us back on the road, my hands gripping the steering wheel tightly.
Luca clears his throat, clearly mesmerized by the image of Rue masturbating, and mutters, “We’ll keep an eye on him when we get back.”
Rue flops back into the seat and goes back to staring out of the window, and we ride on in silence until we hit Grove City, and I pull up outside Logan and Serena’s apartment building.
“You two stay here,” I order Luca and Jez as Rue climbs out, and I follow her.
Entering the complex, we head straight for the elevators and ride up to the top floor.
“You didn’t have to come all the way up,” Rue complains.
“Not leaving you. Get used to it.”
She huffs and presses the buzzer on the front door.
A few seconds later, it opens, and Rue’s best friend stands there with a big grin. “Hi! I didn't know you were coming!”
They hug tightly before we file in.
“It was an impromptu visit. I missed meeting up with you on Saturday.”
“Same,” she says, giving me a once-over with a secret smile.
“Isaac,” Logan says, coming over and kissing Rue on her cheek before turning to me. “Nice to see you again.”
I snort with amusement. “Sure.”
He chuckles, remembering the last time we saw each other. I killed my boss in front of him on Vik’s orders, leading me directly into Rue’s life.
He leads me to the open-plan kitchen as the women head into the sitting room, already giggling like two schoolgirls.
Reaching for an apple from the bowl on the counter, I pull out Bessie and get to work.
Chapter26
Rue
“So, you and Isaac, hmm?” Serena says, her blonde hair falling in waves around her face as she shakes her head knowingly.
“No, not me and Isaac,” I point out with frustration.
“Oh, please. I’m not blind. You’ve done the nasty.”
“How can you possibly know that?” This concerns me. If we are both walking around with big neon ‘we fucked’ signs over our heads, then my parents definitely know about it as well.
