I let my ravens go and exit the barn, looking up at the sky. It is always overcast here in the Dark Fae Kingdom. I can see the blue sky and sun in the distance that hangs over the Light Fae lands, but I much prefer it here. It’s too bright over there.
As I walk further away, I hear a whistling coming from behind me. I look over my shoulder with a frown and see where it’s coming from. Raize is sitting in a tree, on a low branch, leaning against the trunk and swinging his leg lazily as he chews on a long piece of grass. I wave at him and he waves back, that cheeky grin on his face again.
He looks very sexy sitting there, those eyes are captivating, but I turn from him, determined to find another sexy man and kick his ass to vent my growing desire, and confusion for him.
When I get closer to the palace again, I see a familiar face waiting for me.
“Blayne!” I exclaim and speed up a little bit to get to him sooner.
He gives me an appraising look which unnerves me, his eyes lingering on my breasts before they drop down to my feet and then back up to my eyes.
“You don’t look anything like your sister,” he comments.
I frown at him, as I realize that this isn’t Blayne, but the mysterious brother. His brown hair is shorter, but I can tell now that I’m looking in his brown eyes. They are harder and the arrogance comes off him in waves. Blayne is confident, but not arrogant. This guy looks like an asshole that would hurt you as soon as look at you.
“Never claimed to,” I retort, folding my arms across my chest and giving him as critical a once-over as he did me.
He enjoys it.
He smirks at me, tilting his head slightly as he raises an eyebrow. “Like what you see?” he asks.
“Pah,” I scoff. “I don’t do asshole.”
He snorts, laughing at me, but I don’t shy away from it.
He’s intriguing me. Apart from his demeanor, he looksexactlylike Blayne. It’s creepy. Does this mean that the third brother, who is married to my sister, looks the same as well?
“How did you know who I am anyway?” I ask.
“Blayne filled me in.”
“Where is he?”
Brown eyes narrow and after a pause, he says, “Not here.”
“Hm.” I find that doesn’t disappoint me as much as I thought it would.
“So, Savannah, are you going to come to this party tonight that is being held to welcome me?”
“As your date?” I ask with a bit of a twist to my lips.
He regards me curiously, sitting down on the low stone wall that is behind him. “Do you want to be my date?”
“Are you asking?”
“I wasn’t, but now you have me interested, Little Faerie. Sure, be my date.”
I smirk at him. I was messing with him, but it seems that I got him to agree to it anyway. “No thanks. I’ll come, but I’ll see you there.”
He stands up again and takes me in his arms as if to dance.
I rear back at the unexpected contact, but his hold on me is tight. He dips me and I squeak in surprise.
“Save a dance for me then,” he whispers as he brings me back up, his face as close to mine as he can get without kissing me.
For fuck’s sake. What is with these men all of a sudden? I left here mooning after a man that barely knows I exist and now that I’ve returned, I seem to have my pick of them. It does occur to me that perhaps they’ve heard a rumor while I was away that grandfather is going to make his choice soon and they are hedging their bets with me.
“What’s your name?” I ask him, pushing him away from me.
