I clear my throat and give him a lingering look. Unfortunately, I want to go back home and there is no way Theo can visit me there. It’s too dangerous for Vampires in the Fae Kingdoms. So, I give them a brush off. “I’m very well, thank you. I’ve decided to go back home tonight.”

“Home?” Arathia snaps at me, her voice going up an octave.

“Yes, the Dark Fae Kingdom. That is my home now. I don’t belong here,” I state with finality, my arms folded over my small breasts, encased in a conservative, black lace gown. Delinda says I look like a gothic Princess with my fashion choices.

I’ll take it. It suits my personality and Iama Princess. Just a Dark Fae one from my mother’s side.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Arathia says, flicking her long blonde hair over her shoulder. She is the exact opposite to me in looks. It’s any wonder we came from the same woman.

“Mother isn’t even here,” I whine, feeling the need to justify my actions now. “What’s the point in me being here? When she gets back, tell her she knows where to find me.” And with that, I stalk off and make it to the bottom of the stairs before Theo catches up to me.

I grit my teeth as he calls out to me, wishing that I had used my power of Puffporting, which moves me through time and space in a puff of smoke, to wherever I want to be.

I smile and turn around.

“Don’t go,” he says, almost desperately. “I want to get to know you a bit.” He lets out a nervous laugh.

It’s sweet.

“I want to go,” I tell him, trying to be nice but firm. “But I’ll be back. Now that I know I can come and go without issue from Constantine, I’m just a Puffport away.”

He looks at me despondently so I do what any aloof and slightly shy girl would do…I Puffport away.

Only he grabs onto me the second before I dissipate, and he ends up with me in my bedroom!

I gasp and snatch my arm away from him, moving further back. I’ve never had a man in my room before. I’m a good little Fae girl, keeping my innocence for my husband. This is making me very nervous.

“I’m sorry!” he yells, making it even worse. “I didn’t mean…” He backs up, with his hands raised, and crashes into the corner of the huge bed. Only his natural Vampire grace keeps him from sprawling on his ass on the stone floor.

His cheeks go bright red and he stammers his apologies again as he backs towards the door this time.

I’m trying not to laugh, but I can’t help it. He’s too cute for words.

I giggle, which makes his cheeks even redder, but then he smiles, and it lights up his face. “Can we try this again, out there?” he asks and points through the open door.

I nod, even though I want to find my father to tell him of my decision to leave. “Sure,” I say and follow him out of my room, firmly closing the door behind me.

He makes his way to one of the many alcoves that run along the window side of this long, wide hallway on the first floor of the castle. His gaze is transfixed on the view before him.

I sidle up to him and also admire the vista. It’s absolutely stunning. There is nothing like it in the Fae Kingdoms. As this castle is on a hill, you can see for miles. Constantine owns all of the land around here so there are no neighbors, just spectacular scenery of rolling hills, forests and lakes. I can see why my mother loves it here.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” I ask.

Theo turns to me, his eyes gazing adoringly into mine. He takes in every inch of my face, making my cheeks go warm as he drops his eyes to my breasts and down over my flat stomach and slim hips.

“Gorgeous,” he breathes.

I blink at him. “I was talking about the view,” I mutter, embarrassed.

“That is too,” he murmurs.

Then he steps forward into my personal space, which is larger than most people’s. It causes me to stumble backwards, but I realize my error instantly.

I’ve moved back into the space between the window to my left and the start of the stone archway of the alcove to my right, with the wall behind me. I’ve boxed myself in completely.

I put my hand up straight away, the Fae magick crackling on my fingertips in a purple and black display of electricity. Theo stops dead, eyeing up my magick warily. Heshouldbe cautious. Fae magick is wild and dangerous. I only learned that by being in the Fae Kingdoms, surrounded by it constantly. I’d thought I had a good handle on it, having put into practice everything my father had taught me, and I’d excelled at it.

But I was dead wrong.
