“Now!” Savannah states.

Aeval gives her a withering look that makes her back down. “Tomorrow. I want to spend the night with my husbands.”

Savannah grits her teeth but nods. “Fine.”

“Now lose the storm, girlie. You have no idea what you’re doing with that shit.”

I stifle my snort at Savannah’s outrage that her magick is put into question.

“I can control the storm,” she says as icily as the hail that is now lashing down against the stained-glass windows.

I have to agree, to an extent. If she couldn’t, we’d be battered to death by the sheer size of the hailstones as they’d be indoors, not out. As it is, we still have the wind whipping around us and the sparks of electricity firing off the fingertips of her free hand.

She clenches her fist and uses every ounce of force that she has to squash the storm both inside and out. I feel her draw on my strength that I offered up to her to use. It makes me stumble slightly but it works and soon the World is calm again.

Aeval gives her a critical look before her eyes drop back to our still-joined hands. “Hmm,” she mumbles. “Interesting.” Her gaze lands on me, searching my eyes before she turns to Vito and dismisses us with the wave of her hand.

Savannah, knowing which battles to pick, drops my hand and strides out of the library with me hot on her heels.

“It’s a start,” she says to me with a firm nod as if I was about to refute this. Which I wasn’t. It’s further than I thought she’d get if I’m honest.

Her eyes light up slightly as that Vampire, who seems to be hanging around here for no apparent reason, approaches us.

I give him a filthy look, but he only has eyes for Savannah.

Great.

I hope he gives me a reason to smash his face into the ground.

“May we talk, please?” he asks her.

She nods with a smile. She catches my eye and that smile turns to a sexy curve of her lips. “I’ll see you later,” she murmurs to me.

I grimace at her.

She knows I’m jealous and it’s amusing her.

Problem is, I fear that I have something to be jealous over.

I don’t know who this asshole is to her, but she is happy to ditch me after I talked her down from her rage, to be with him. I was hoping we could talk about it. Discuss what it means that she was able to take the strength that I offered her so easily.

I watch as she saunters to the double front doors and pulls them open to step out into the sun, now that her storm has retreated.

Every instinct that I have is screaming at me to go after her, but I don’t.

I won’t.

I won’t be that man in her life that gets angry if she so much as looks at another man.

I know who she is. I know that one day she will have to walk away from me and be with the man that will be her husband. In the meantime, I want to cherish every moment that I spend with her and spoiling those times with jealousy will only ruin it for us.

I blink as she slams the doors closed behind her, and then I turn to walk away.

As I do, I feel Princess Aeval’s eyes on me, but I don’t look back. If she has something to say to me, she will when she feels I’m at my most vulnerable.

She is a predator, but I won’t make it easy for her to make me her prey.
