Rook lets out the breath that he was holding, which is the only sound in the garden, as all eyes are on Jerrick.
I give him a nervous smile. “Really?”
He snorts. “Yes, Princess. Really. Did you honestly think otherwise?”
I turn with surprise when Theo says quietly, “Do you need to hear it from me again? Does he?”
Jerrick turns to face him full on. “I know how she feels about you, Vampire. I am more in tune with her emotions than she realizes. You, however,” he turns to face Rook, “I didn’t know you were a part of this until now.”
“A part of what?” Rook asks, giving me a puzzled look.
Jerrick cuts his expectant gaze back to me.
I gulp.
“Just how much of that aspect of my Dark Fae-ness am Inotusing?” I ask with a nervous laugh.
“All of it,” Jerrick says. “You think it’s just a feeling you get, there’s so much more to it.”
I lick my lips. “Like what?”
“Don’t change the subject,” he tuts at me, “You desire him Princess, don’t you?”
I feel Rook’s eyes on me, but I don’t look at him. “Yes. I-I’m not really sure what else.”
“I do,” Jerrick says.
I blink at him as he stops speaking.
“Uhm,” I mumble. Isn’t he going to tell me? Asshat.
“But we aren’t done with the first part of this conversation. Anders cannot get near you ever again to complete the oath. I won’t allow it.”
“Me either,” Theo says, coming closer and taking my hand. “I don’t really understand the magick behind it, but no way will you tie yourself to this asshole.”
“I don’t want to. I don’t care what it takes to keep him away from me. I need to get stronger.”
“Rook gives you strength,” Jerrick says, quietly, “He’s tied to you in a magickal way that I can see quite clearly now. You drew strength from me as well back on Earth. We can help you, Savvie. You just need to let us help you because Anders will not give up on this now that he is so close to getting you right where he wants you.”
I nod. “I know.”
“We need to protect you.”
“All of us.”
We turn to the newcomer, standing there with his arms folded across his chest.
“Count me in,” Trey says. “That dickbag has it out for you worse than before.”
“What do you know?” Jerrick asks him instantly.
You could hear a pin drop as everyone goes deathly quiet when Trey gives us a worried look, and the force of his anxiety hits me in the chest. “Let’s go somewhere a bit more private,” he says eventually in a low voice. “We need to prepare for war.”

Trey
They are all staring at me and not moving. “Come,” I urge, pointing over to a large barn I can see on the other side of the palace grounds. I go, using this very weird Puffporting thing to move myself in a puff of smoke, which I didn’t think was possible on Dark Fae lands. It must be because I’m a half breed, I don’t count. It’s quite different to the Dragon mode of transport, whereby you just come and go, no dramatics about it. I’ve found, as much as the Dragon are a ruthless race that will stop at nothing to get what they want, the Fae are utterly barbaric behind closed doors. I’ve seen things here that make evenmeshudder and I’ve dabbled with the darkest of magicks. And that is from theLightFae. Christ only knows what theDarkFae are into. I look at the three Dark Fae now staring at me expectantly, plus one Vampire that is as close to Savannah as he can get without having his dick in her.
