Jerrick takes her hand and gives it a squeeze, then he turns those hard as steel eyes on me. “Savannah and I are in love,” he states.

I try not to flinch at those words. Love wasn’t something I expected to be thrown about. I’m surprised by how much that hurts me.

The Vampire speaks up for her next, “Savannah and I are seeing what we have. There’s something here apart from attraction, but we are barely getting started. That being said, I’ve followed her across the Realms, and I’d do it again.”

She gives him a shy smile and also takes his hand.

I turn to Rook and arch my eyebrow at him. He is as red as Savannah.

“I—I, uhm, well…” he flusters.

“Yes?” I press.

“Uhm…”

“Oh, for the gods’ sake, man,” Jerrick snaps at him. “He is in love with her. He hasn’t told her yet. She finds him cute and has growing feelings for him. There. Are we done?”

“Jerrick,” Savannah murmurs at him in shock. “How can you know all that?”

“You are barely scratching the surface of your empathic power, love. Open yourself up to it and you will see, feeleverything. Manipulate even.”

“What”? she thunders. “No! I would never…”

He shrugs as she trails off. “You’ll learn, sweet girl.”

Then her eyes go almost black. “Is that what you’ve done to me?” she hisses at him, drawing her hand back.

His look of utter shock and disgust makes me know that he didn’t, but yeah, he’s got some explaining to do.

“Don’t be ridiculous!” he snaps at her. “You know that I would never do that. I’ve harbored my feelings for you for years and never uttered a word of it. I fought this between us.”

“Maybe that was your game?” she hisses.

“Say that about me again, Princess, and I’ll walk.”

She takes a deep breath to steady her temper. I can see flashes of silver in her eyes and sparks of lightning at her fingertips.

He sighs at her. “Use your power tofeel, Savannah. Know it. Trust it. Trustme.”

She nods, but whether she used the power is another thing altogether. She clearly doesn’t have a handle on it. If she did, she’d know that I’m burning with lust for her, needing to kiss her again and delve my tongue straight up her pussy to give her a climax that will fill my mouth with her cum…

Jerrick hisses at me.

Also, clearly, hedoeshave a handle on that power.

My eyes bore into his and I let him get the full weight of my feelings for her. It’s not just lust, as much as I’d like to tell myself that. I’m falling in love with her more and more, every second that I stand here.

Jerrick grunts at me and turns back to Savannah. “Tell her,” he says gruffly.

“I want to see where this goes with us,” I say carefully. I’ve been hurt too much to blurt it all out in front of strangers, no less. I only let Jerrick know because I didn’t have tosayit. Too bad Savannah hasn’t got that power. It would save me a whole lot of talking. “When we kissed at the party, something clicked inside me. I know you felt it too, it’s why you came back later that night.” I stop speaking as Jerrick has started to rumble deep in his throat.

I don’t have to be an empath to know he isnothappy with my words. Seems she didn’t tell him any of this.

“Uhm,” Savannah stammers, her cheeks flaming again.

I can see why she and the Rook like each other. They are one and the same.

“Anywaaay,” I carry on, “I think I proved myself to you when I went to get your motherandby coming here today. You said actions speak louder than words, Princess. And if they don’t, then ask your man here. So, what’s the verdict?”
