The only thing that matters to me is Savvie.
As it turns out, he doesn’t give a flying fuck about anything except her either, as he climbs on the bed and snuggles into her, effectively shoving Jerrick out of the way.
I roll my eyes at us.
We are ridiculous.
I kiss her softly, tangling my fingers into her wet hair.
She pushes me away. “I stink.”
“I don’t care,” I say and nestle closer to her to show her that I don’t.
She gives me that glorious smile. “I’m okay,” she croaks.
“No, you are not,” Rath’Na says, looking around the room and then backing away from the door as it bursts open. Drake strides in with a face of thunder that turns downrightfrightening as he sees three men crawling all over his granddaughter as she lies in her bed.
Then his face goes cold as he looks at Rath’Na, squinting his eyes.
“Yes, Drake, it is I, Rath’Na,” he says. “How well you’ve aged.”
“Fuck you, you bastard!” Drake snarls and goes for the Dragon, all guns blazing.
“Wait!” Savvie cries, holding up her hand weakly as I move to get in between the two of them, stupidly, yes, as I’m practically thrown across the room by the furious Dark Fae King.
Sparks of electricity are flying around him, but only Savvie’s plea stops him from attacking.
“Don’t,” she says. “He’s been imprisoned by the Light Fae for centuries. He’s been through enough, and he isn’t here for vengeance. Right?” She gives Rath’Na a pointed look.
“Absolutely. I have far more pressing matters to attend to than getting into a losing fight with you,” Rath’Na says and looks around again. “Would someone point me towards the Bathing Hall?”
Savvie snorts and then chokes on the blood that she must’ve swallowed.
“Here,” I say, turning him towards the door of the en-suite. “I’ll sort you out.”
Drake gives us a menacing glare but turns his attention back to Savvie. “Girl, you look dreadful. Are you okay?”
“Thanks,” she mutters.
I don’t hear the rest of what she said as I get busy turning the shower on for the old man and instructing him on what to do.
He stares at it for the longest time as the bathroomsteams up with hot water. “Wonderful,” he says eventually as he decides to trust the falling water. “I do not need your assistance now… which one are you?” He gives me a puzzled look.
“Trey’Za,” I reply. “Just Trey.”
“Hmm,” he nods and waits as I exit the bathroom into tension so thick, you could cut it with a knife.
Chapter 8
Raize
My eyes snap open, and I look around with a groan. “Dammit!”
I’m back in my room, alone, instead of being with Savannah.I’mthe one who knew where to get to her; I should be with her now, making sure she knows that I love her even though I failed her.
Sitting up, I drop my feet heavily to the floor. I feel like I died and came back to life. Again. This has to be a side effect of having a Phoenix Shifter as a father. The only question I have about it is, does this only work when Savvie joins our magick to boost hers? Or does it work if I die from something else? I’m not sure that I want to find out.
I stand up shakily, and when my head stops swimming, I Puffport straight into Savvie’s room, using up the bit of strength I recouped from being passed out.
