“Anders,” I say, my voice steady as I reach him, staying just on my side of the border.

“You’ve been a very naughty girl,” he tuts. “What should I do about it?” He leans forward on his unicorn so that he can look me dead in the eye.

“Take me back to the palace,” I say, trying to make my voice soft and sweet.

He blinks and then gives me a suspicious look.

He needs a prod, so I step over the border and look up at him. “The blood oath is too strong to deny. I don’t want to deny it anymore.”

“I see,” he says, licking his lips and holding a hand out for me.

I reach out, and he hauls me up by my elbow onto the unicorn to sit behind him. I wrap my arms around his waist lightly, and he laughs.

“I knew you’d come to your senses, but why escape?”

“My family came for me.” Not a lie. They did.

“Hmm, and the old Dragon? I want him back, you know.”

“He’s gone. Left as soon as we got to the nearest Fairie Ring.”

He looks over his shoulder at me as he moves his unicorn forward. “How inconvenient,” he murmurs.

“So, tell me more about why you’ve come back.” He turns back around, and I glare at the back of his head.

He is such a fucking asshole. He needs the validation of my pleading to be with him. Ugh! In his dreams.

“I realized how good we will be together. We belong together. You are the Light Fae King. I will soon be the Dark Fae Queen. Why fight destiny?” I giggle to make it sound as natural as I can.

He buys it.

Fucking fool.

He stops the unicorn and turns to look at me again. “Indeed,” he mutters, his eyes on my mouth. “I can’t wait to take you to my bed, Princess. I have been craving you since we completed the blood oath.”

I give him a sultry smile. I hadn’t even thought of the other side of this coin. If I was feeling truly awful being away from him, he must’ve been feeling the same being away from me. He made me think it was just going to fall on me, but that doesn’t make sense. Dammit, I wish I’d thoughtof this before I came here. “Well, now we can be together,” I murmur. “I dreamed of you…”

“I know,” he says with a creepy smirk. “I was there.”

I blink. “Oh,” I say and look down, feigning embarrassment. Crap. That was real? How is that even possible? “I don’t want to go to the palace,” I exclaim suddenly, knowing that I have to keep him outside. If we get back into the palace, I won’t get out alive.

“Excuse me?” he asks with a frown.

“I want to go to the unicorn glen,” I say with my eyes lowered. “It’s so beautiful there. I want our first time to be special.”

“Oh,” he says, his frown fading as the heat in his eyes flares up. “Of course, my Princess.”

We ride on in silence for a while, then I break it. “What about Ambrosia?”

He stiffens. “What about her?”

“If I am to be your Queen, I want to be youronlyQueen.”

He laughs. “Ha, well, say no more, beautiful Savannah. I will send her back to her father to stand trial for treason.”

“Thank you,” I murmur, as I know he expects me to do.

“She means nothing to me,” he adds as if it’s what I want to hear.
