I pause and turn around. “Sounds serious.”
“It is. You’re probably going to hate your father and me…”
“Is this about me marrying Trey?” I interrupt her. “Not to mention the other three men?”
“No, strangely, I don’t disapprove of any of your choices, even Trey. They are all quite fine men in their own ways, and they love you. What more could you ask for?”
“Oh,” I say and beam at her. “What is it then?”
“Sit,” she says.
I do without argument as whatever it is, has her panties in a bunch.
“When we decided to send you here to learn about the Fae and get to know your grandfather, we were very worried about you,” she starts and then paces up and down for a moment. I wait for her to get her words together, taking in her smart black pants suit, skyscraper black heels and pristine white silk camisole top. Trust Mom to buck the Fae tradition of women in dresses, which, admittedly, having lived on Earth is very oppressive. Yet, I don’t mind because I look good in a dress and have never really liked to wear anything else.
I’m about to press her to continue when she stops pacing and looks at me. “We know the Fae. We know how sneaky and devious the Dark are and how overt and creepy the Light are. We knew we couldn’t keep you all the waysafe without serious magick, which you would be all too aware of, so we did what we could. We placed a curse on you…”
“I know,” I say before she can continue. “A curse so that I can’t get pregnant. I know.”
“Oh,” she says, taken aback. “How?”
“Doesn’t matter. Point is, I know and I’m not angry with you. However…”
“We need to remove it,” she finishes for me as I nod. “But before I do, I need to know that you are aware of what you’re getting yourself into?”
“I do. I will marry Trey; we will conceive the blessed child and they will unite the Fae. Although, right now, I’m sure it is the last thing that either side wants. We have some years before it will become something thathasto be done. Hopefully enough time to bridge the gap this war has made.”
She gives me a soft smile. “Okay, I believe that you have your head on straight about this, except for one thing, I would be remiss to overlook.”
“My other men,” I say. “I know.”
“I won’t give you a lecture on how babies are made. You are quite clear about that, but once the curse is lifted, you will have to take precautions of your own if you plan on conceiving with Trey.”
I bite the inside of my lip. That’s going to be problematic. What am I supposed to say to them? You all get my ass and mouth, but only Trey can fuck my pussy until I get pregnant?
Awwwkward.
“Yes, I know,” I say and decide to just figure it out with them later. See if they have any other solutions to this problem.
“Okay,” Mother says and pulls an athame out from the back of her pants. She slices it across her palm, and muttering strange words, she places her bloodied hand to my chest.
There is a soft whump and then I guess it’s undone.
“Celtic curses?” I ask her with a raised eyebrow.
“You can thank my husband for that one,” she replies with a laugh.
“Speaking of which…”
I stop talking as a huge crash resounds outside my room and then the door is literally kicked off its hinges to let in a whirlwind of bright color in the form of Ambrosia.
She is tackled to the ground, by none other than my formidable lover, who gives me a headshake of exasperation, as three more guards land on top of them.
“You bitch!” Ambrosia shrieks, struggling relentlessly under the pile of men, as Mom glares down at her and I gape like a goldfish. “You killed the father of my unborn baby, you fucking cunt!”
