He goes, but he isn’t happy about being excluded. I suppose I can understand that after years of being locked up, he wants the company, but I need to keep an eye on him. His gaze hasn’t left Savannah since I landed in thisroom, and that concerns me. Does he want her? Does she want him? Will they inevitably end up being with each other because of what they went through together in prison?
I push all of these worries aside when Savvie pulls me closer to her and tilts her head up for a kiss.
Eagerly, I oblige her, always anxious to touch her, kiss her, make love to her. I need to get her by that waterfall again, one on one. It was the most amazing experience of my life.
“Where’s Theo?” she asks, pulling away.
“Here,” he says, appearing in the doorway, his eyes shining behind his glasses.
I frown. He looks more alive than I have seen him for a while, since the night Savvie and I made love by the waterfall.
He’s fed, that much is clear, but on whom? And why is he keeping it a secret?
I have too many thoughts swimming around my head. I need to focus on Savvie, only on Savvie. She is the only thing that matters.
She gives him a smile and beckons him closer. He comes into the room and shuts the door behind him, leaning against it almost as if he is keeping his distance from her.
Stop it!
I have to stop being so damned suspicious of everyone and everything.
“For those of you who weren’t in the room when Ambrosia arrived, she had news. Apparently, she is pregnant with Anders’s child.”
We all heard her stammer.
I study her face, but she brushes it off by clearing herthroat.
“As you can see, this is a bit of a problem seeing as Drake has namedmehis heir.”
“So, we get you pregnant right away,” Trey says. “I don’t see the problem. If you are the heir, then your child will be the blessed child. Simple.”
“No, not simple,” she says. “The Fae won’t just accept that. They will consider Ambrosia’s child the one.”
“Only if it arrives first,” Theo states. “I know the women in your family gestate quickly, no reason why you would be any different.”
She balks at that. “Gestate?” she says faintly.
He shrugs. “I was around when Arathia was pregnant, as well as when your mother had the twins.”
“Hm,” she says, her eyes narrowing slightly. “So, you are saying that I beat her to the punch?”
“Yes,” he says.
“That could work,” I venture. “Of course, it brings up another problem…”
We stare at each other as we all know what that problem is. No one gets to have sex with Savvie except Trey until she conceives.
“I don’t like this,” she says. “I feel like I shouldn’t have to ask this of you. However, I have known all along that I needed to have a half-Light child. I should have been more forthcoming in having this discussion with you all.”
An awkward pause.
Jerrick speaks up first. “There is no problem, Princess,” he says, going to her and taking her other hand. He kisses it softly. “You and Trey have a responsibility to this Kingdom. We all know that. We are all aware that he is, effectively, your chosen mate. You will be with him one-on-one for as long as it takes. We will wait.”
“No!” she says, shaking her head vehemently. “No, I don’t want that. There are other ways we can be together.”
He gives her a sad smile. “As much as we all want that, this is for the best. Being with you is… a very unique experience, my love. I know that I don’t just speak for myself when I say that not being able to take you in that sweet, wet pussy will be murder for us.”
“But that doesn’t mean you have to stay away,” she cries, tears springing to her eyes. “Please.”
