I need to see her.
So I sit and watch them interacting. It’s a bit strange to see her with him, talking, engaging in an animated conversation that has them both engrossed and laughing with each other.
What are they talking about?
Has she mentioned me?
Has he?
Gods, I want this over with.
I hope after a week of intense fucking they will have conceived the child, and we can be done with it. I dislike how that sounds in my thoughts. I don’t mean for it to be so clinical, but it is what it is. He was always going to be the one for her – his Light to her Dark. It was obvious from day one before they even admitted they had feelings for each other. I always knew she would have to marry a Light Fae and have his child. The fact that she is also in love with me and having sex withmewas something that I wasn’t prepared for. The whirlwind of the other men, the battle to take her, her imprisonment, it swept everything else away.
Now, all I have time for is to think.
I don’t like it.
I stand up, about to sack off this ban and go to her, when a noise behind me makes me spin around, hand on the hilt of my sword.
“Oh, it’s you,” I drawl at Midnight and lose the defensive stance. I stroke his head as he comes closer, and then, to my surprise, he Shifts in front of me.
I raise my eyebrow at him as he stretches.
“Hello,” he says. “Enjoying a bit of voyeurism?”
“I was just leaving,” I lie.
He chuckles.
It’s odd. I knew all unicorns were Shifters, but they’re an elusive bunch. I’ve never come across one in human form – that I know of anyway.
“Elrich,” he says by way of an introduction.
I give him a nod. He knows who I am, so I don’t bother. “Wereyouenjoying a bit of voyeurism?”
He snorts. “M/F is not really my thing, but I suppose there’s a first time for everything.”
I frown. “What is M/F?”
“Male and female,” he explains.
“Oh,” I grunt, feeling like a fool, but then eye him up with a bit more interest. “Unicorns or just males?” I ask rudely.
“Ha!” He lets out a loud laugh, which surely Savvie and Trey must’ve heard. “Just males, although unicorns is also kind of hot.”
“Indeed,” I murmur, wondering where this conversation is headed if we are already talking about sex.
“How is Theo?” he asks me suddenly.
“Fine, why?” I reply suspiciously.
“Hm,” he mutters and then shrugs. “I’ll see you around.” Then he is gone, slipping through the trees, back the way he came.
Why is he asking about Theo? I frown as I think back to seeing Theo yesterday. He looked… hungry. But that’s the first time I’ve ever seen him that way. He was obviously feeding from someone before and then stopped. Was it Elrich? And if so, why did he stop? All things to figure out. But right now, I have to get out of here. I can’t watch Savvie and Trey making love. I’m not strong enough. But nor can I join in. It isn’t fair.
I head back to the palace grounds and bump into Rook.
“Have you seen Savvie?” he asks instantly.
