Shaking my head, I search his eyes again. “No. Not at all. The opposite, in fact.”
“Oh, really?” Trey drawls. “You aren’t bothered by this?” He also comes closer as Jerrick glowers at us all huddled in the middle of the room.
I shake my head.
“You’re turned on?” he asks, his voice going a bit lower.
I nod and lick my lips, my eyes never leaving Theo’s.
“Even though they did this without you?” Trey pushes it with a really dark tone that makes me shiver.
I don’t think he is trying to cause trouble now; just get things clear, as I’m not saying anything.
“I’d rather it was something we’d discussed first, but we all know that we can get swept up in the moment. I am guilty of this, even more so,” I point out. “If this had happened with someone else, another woman or a man that wasn’t a part of our group, then I would feel differently. But as it stands, if you, any of you, wish to engage in a relationship with each other that excludes me, then I’m okay with that.”
“You are?” Trey asks with a frown.
With a deepening frown, I stare at him. “Are you saying that I shouldn’t be?”
He gives me a curious look. “It is entirely up to you, baby girl,” he murmurs. “But for the record, you don’t need to worry about that from me.”
“Not worried,” I say lightly.
“You know what I mean,” he growls quietly.
I smile at him and turn back to Rath. He is giving me the same curious look which turns heated when I lick my lips. “Want to show me what I missed?”
“Maybe later,” he says, his puzzled look turning to a sexy smirk. “Right now, we have this war with Ambrosia to address.”
I’m disappointed, but I realize that I may have thrown a small cat amongst the pigeons. I look at Rook, but he is too busy looking everywhere else to notice. I hide my smile as I hold my hand out for Jerrick to join us as he is still standing on the outskirts.
He accepts it and says, “We need a very clear plan because this woman seems to have completely lost her mind,” he says.
“Did she ever have it?” I murmur, making him snicker.
“I have the start of something, but it needs work,” he says, getting down to business.
Soon, we are deep in conversation, and all thoughts about my men getting together are pushed aside, but hopefully not forgotten.
Chapter 8
Theo
Casting a glance at Savvie, she is in full-blown protective mode, and it makes me hide my smile behind my hand. Even though she is basically telling everyone that I’m not strong enough to take on Ambrosia and win, it still lights up something inside me when she protects me. I guess it dates back to my childhood, which was a nightmare of epic proportions. Abused, abandoned and homeless until my Vampire sire found me, turned me and gave me a better life. Yes, she protected me from other, older Vampires, but it’s not the same thing as having someone care about you so much. Savvie is yelling at a bunch of men twice her size to protect me. I thought it was the same. I thought I was in love with my sire until I saw Savannah, and then that was it. I was blown away by the fragile-looking gothic princess that turned up and stole my heart. From that day on, I was hers whether she knew it or not. My sire was not happy to have the attention off her, but her feelings no longer concerned me. I withdrew and felt the hit being away from her for a while. Cold turkey worked, though. I don’t think I need to be near her anymore.
“Savvie,” I say quietly. “The mages are working to keepDark Faeout of the Light Fae lands. That rules out Jerrick and your entire army, plus Rook. Rath’Na, Trey and I are the best weapons to draw her out.”
“After last time, they will be waiting for the Dragons to show up!” she cries. “That leavesyou! No way, not a chance.”
“I’ve been so close to her in that Palace before. I can do it again,” I insist.
“And if they aren’t expecting you, then what? What are you going to do when you find her? She may be a silly little cunt, but she is no slouch in the magick department, and lest we forget, she ispregnant. We can’t hurt her.”
A crowd of grim faces stare back at her.
“Then what are we even doing?” Trey asks.
She turns a horrified gaze to him, but he shakes his head. “I didn’t mean it like that. I mean, what are we supposed to do with her if we even get to her?”
