“You support this?” I ask with slight incredulity.
“Of course,” he says with a smile. “You are my daughter; I will always support you. You were always meant for great things. I just had no idea howgreat. You are truly a marvel, Savvie. I’m so proud of you.”
Tears spring to my eyes, and I rush to him, flinging my arms around him. He crushes me to him.
“I love you, Dad,” I whisper to him. “Thank you.”
“I love you too, my sweet girl. You have always been my shining light. My little miracle.”
I sob openly into his shirt for a few moments, and then I pull myself together. I can feel Jerrick looming on the other side of the door, which probably means the other men are there too.
Stepping back and smiling up at him, I say, “I should get this done.”
He nods and strides over to the door, opening it and coming face to face with five worried-looking men.
He glowers at me and then Puffports out so that he doesn’t have to go around them.
I giggle and beckon them inside, suddenly feeling the strain of everything that I need to accomplish, drain away.
Chapter 20
Savannah
“You’re feeling better?” is thrown at me from various directions.
“Yes, I was just tired,” I say, holding my hands up to stop the barrage of questions.
I see Trey’s face fall slightly, but I give him a bright smile that he can’t ignore.
He comes to me and gives me a soft kiss. “I’m glad you’re okay. We were worried, but we figured you needed your rest. We weren’t far away.”
“It’s fine. I did need to be alone and rest and clear my head. I also just had a good chat with my dad. He knows about me being the goddess, and he is fully on board with me telling the Kingdoms. He also said the time is ripe to pick at the Light Fae because no one really believes that Ambrosia is pregnant anyway.”
“I’m notnotsupporting you, but saying stuff like ‘pick at the Light Fae’ is perhaps not the most tactful when you are supposed to be uniting the Kingdoms, Savvie. Have you really thought thisthrough? Are you really prepared to accept all the Light Fae as your own?”
I purse my lips as it is a good question. It is no secret that the Light and Dark hate each other. “Yes, I have genuinely thought about this, and you are right. It was a poor choice of words. They will be mine, and I must – Iwill– treat them equally.”
“Spoken like a true goddess,” Rath murmurs to me, taking my hand and giving it a kiss. “Shall we then?”
I nod eagerly.
“Did you try to Shift yet?” Rook blurts out, clearly unable to sit on his question any longer.
I giggle at him and his enthusiasm. “Not yet,” I say. “But I will. You’ll help me? Later by the waterfall?”
His blue eyes flood with love. “Yes, definitely.”
“Wait!” Theo says as we head for the door. “What about Ambrosia? It’s all very well you stating that you are the Faerie goddess and have the Dark Fae support you. But you can’t even get onto Light Fae land.”
“I can if I call her out,” I say confidently. “I will go to the border and ask the Guards to get her. If I knowanythingabout that spoiled brat is that she will get them to bringmeto her.”
“But then you will be alone on Light Fae lands,” Trey says. “I will come with you.”
“Not necessary,” I argue. “I can take care of myself, and I would rather do this alone.”
“Why?” Theo asks quietly.
I fix him with a piercing look. “If I go alone, I will have more chance to convince them thatmyway is the only way. Their guard will be lower, they will feel less threatened.”
