I squeeze his hands back tightly, knowing that I’ve left out the part about the World domination on Rath’s agenda. But I don’t have plans for that, and I will do my best to talk him out of it. There is no need to take over Worlds when we have our own, when we have thepowerbetween us to create a new World, one where the Dragons and Fae live in peace together.
“Thank you,” I say and then look at the other men.
They all look as surprised as Jerrick but accept that Rath doesn’t mean any harm.
As I continue to look at him, Trey suddenly becomes angry, but he clamps his lips shut. I’m guessing that he and Rath are going to have words, really soon. I get that. Trey is a Dragon, first and foremost. He will be pissed off about this news.
“All of this aside, and thank you for keeping us informed,” Jerrick says, “I do need what you promised me, Savannah.” His eyes are heated, and I giggle.
“Definitely,” I say. “Rook, I’ll come and find you later, and we’ll talk. Theo…” I go to him and hold him. He has been silent, taking everything in. “We’ll talk later as well, okay?”
He nods and briefly tightens his hold on me.
I pull away and turn to Trey.
“I think you and Rath need to go and have a talk of your own,” I murmur to him.
“We sure do,” he growls, but then shoots me a small smile. “We’ll catch up later.”
He leans forward to kiss me quickly, and then he grabs Rath by the arm and Puffports him away. Rook and Theo follow. I feel bad for dismissing them, but I can feel a swirl of emotions coming from Jerrick, and I need to find out what is going on with him. He is worried and pissed off, but about what? Only his telling me will solve that mystery.
“I know that was rude, I’m sorry,” he starts.
“It’s okay,” I say lightly. “What’s on your mind?”
“You,” he sighs, “Always you.”
I bite my lip. He sounds so melancholy. “Are you upset about Rath?” I dare to ask.
His eyes find mine. “No, it’s not that. Well, not all that. I truly accept that he is now part of our circle, but it’s not about him, more about how you are conducting yourself around him.”
Stiffening my back, I rear back at the verbal slap. “What do you mean?”
“I saw you outside earlier, and I wasn’t the only one,” he says carefully. “The servants are talking, Savvie. They know about me, him and the others.”
“Oh,” I say, relieved. “That is an easy fix. I am Queen now, and I told you back on Earth that I will tell everyone about us now. I will tell them about all of you… but…”
“But what?” he presses.
“You do know that I have to marry Trey? I mean, first. It will appease the Kingdom, and that is something that I need to do.”
“I know,” he says, coming to me. “This isn’t about that. It is about the rumor mill. I don’t want your name to be dragged through the mud. However, you mean to tell the Kingdom about all of us, do it quickly,” he urges.
I nod. “I will. Is that all that is bothering you?”
His eyes search mine. “Yes,” he says quietly.
I use my empathic power to try to gauge if he is telling me the truth. I find that the power has been amped up now, and I can feeleverythingfrom him. His love for me, his worry over this situation, the resignation over Rath. I stop straight away. It has made me go lightheaded. I’m glad that I can turn this on and off now at will. Must be that bump in power, Queenly or otherwise.
“Is everything okay with you?” he asks, tenderly taking my chin in his hand.
“A little overwhelmed,” I admit. “But, yes, all okay over here.”
He nods. I’m not sure if he believes me, but I just don’t want to come clean about the goddess thing. It will change everything.
He leads me to the bed. I climb on, and he gets on with me. “I just want to hold you for a while,” he murmurs. “Before I make love to you like the first time.”
I giggle. “Well, notexactlylike the first time. It will be amazing this time.”
