“We’re not supposed to be up here.” The redhead giggled as Danny escorted her to one of the closed off rooms.
No, they weren’t, which was perfect. Danny would be long gone before anyone checked upstairs and saw the message that was left behind.
Danny grabbed the redhead, kissing her, enjoying how easily she opened up. If Danny had more time, this night would end differently for the redhead, but as it were, she was a means to an end, and if she chose better partners to fuck, she wouldn’t be in the predicament she was in now.
Danny’s hand went to the doorknob and twisted, opening the door to escort the redhead into the room. As soon as the door closed with a softclick, Danny felt the first real whisper of a smile. After tonight, Danny was one step closer to plucking the wings off of a pretty little Raven.
Raven stirred and tried to stretch her sore body, but a warm arm that had been wrapped around her pulled her closer to a very naked body. She felt Jax’s lips against her neck as he breathed her in. The sun had peeked into her big windows, casting enough light in her room to make Raven smile.
The soundtrack to last night replayed in her mind like warm leftovers from the night before. Every touch, every sound, every sensation had been branded on her skin, leaving a smile on her face that was so wide she thought it might split her in two.
She’d gone to parties before—partaken in threesomes, fucked in front of other people, even watched other people have sex—but nothing compared to the pleasure she felt last night at the hands of Jax and Cruz.
The two of them worked seamlessly together. It was awe inspiring to watch the two of them have their own separate language when it came time to touch and tease Raven. Cruz had never known her body, and yet with Jax’s guidance, he had known every spot to taste, where to tease, and how to pull back at just the right moment to prolong her pleasure.
She couldn’t remember the last time she had climaxed that hard. It had been impossible to keep her eyes open or walk out of Murray’s house on her own. Her body was so sated she nestled into the passenger seat of the car as Jax drove home. He had to carry her up the steps and into her bedroom. He stripped her out of her clothes, and the way he praised her body with whispered kisses, reclaiming her as his, left her wide open for him to crawl inside of her again.
Jax continued to leave parts of himself inside of her, filling the blood that coursed through her body with his essences. Even now as he lay beside her, his wandering hand exploring her body, she could feel his heart beat inside of her chest and could feel his pulse dance to the beat of her own.
Jax cupped her between her legs as his teeth nipped at her neck. “How are you?” The sleep that filled his voice felt like his scruff rubbing between her legs.
“Sore but thoroughly sated.” Raven turned around to face Jax. He pulled the comforter up over their heads, bathing them back into darkness. “How are you? We didn’t get a chance to talk last night.”
Jax smiled at her, “Really? I recall whispering words against your skin and making you cum again. What number did you get up to?” He chuckled when she rolled her eyes. “I’m fine, Rave. Better than fine. Last night was explosive. I don’t know if it was because Cruz was there with me and we quickly slipped into the relationship we had when we worked together. It was effortless. We both had one goal in mind and that was you.”
Jax pulled her closer, her body warming at his words. It had been in the back of her mind since Cruz walked into that room and stalked toward them that this would end badly. Cruz would have something slick to say that would cause a fight, and Jax—the man she was exploring without the chains of his upbringing—would revert right back to who he used to be when it came to sex.
“And then when we came home,” Jax let out a breath and she could feel his length growing against her leg. “That was exquisite. I never understood it before, but as soon as we walked through the door, I wanted to relearn your body, replace the touch of another with my kiss and reconnect with you and somehow the sex had been better.”
The blue–black flames of Jax’s eyes had sparked to life, sending a flicker of heat inside her body. As much as she loved to swing and play with other couples—other people—it was the reconnecting at the end of it with your person she loved the most. There was an intimacy that grew in those moments and pulled them closer together as a couple, and with Jax it was no different.
“Thank you for being open to last night, to being open to this in general,” Raven whispered. It felt like a lame thing to say, especially since the night before felt like a long time coming, but she wanted Jax to know that she appreciated him.
Jax pulled her closer to him. “Thank you for opening my eyes and not giving up on me. Last night…,” he started before taking a breath, “I can say I would like for it to happen again. I’m not sold on sharing a room with that many people, though. I can see how that might turn into a sensory overload issue at some point.”
He paused like he was working out how he wanted to say what was on his mind, and Raven braced herself. This was a lot to process, so she prepared herself for the blow that might come.
“I’m not sure what you were hoping to happen with Cruz. I didn’t mind last night, and going by his expression, he didn’t either, but I think if you wanted it to happen again, me and him need to sit down and talk first. Last night might change the course of our relationship, and it might not.”
Raven couldn’t keep the shock off her face. This hadn’t been the direction she thought Jax was going, but now her mind couldn’t stop conjuring up images of all three of them together. Raven always enjoyed more than one lover—even entertained the idea of taking that deeper, exploring the roles of different relationships—but that had never come up in the relationships she’d been in. While the idea of having a permanent person or couple even to call up when the mood struck for extra bodies was appealing, she wasn’t sure the three of them could do it without emotions getting involved.
Unless that’s where you want it to go.
Raven ignored the direction of her thoughts. One night didn’t change anything between her and Cruz. As soon as they climaxed a couple of times, Cruz had left the room in a flurry of clothes. They hadn’t gotten a chance to come down off of the high they all experienced together and talk. Raven knew from experience Cruz would probably need time to wrap his head around what happened between the three of them, so everyone was back in their respective corners.
The sound of a phone ringing broke into the comfortable air around them. The real world barging in to ruin a moment like always. “Ignore it,” Raven grumbled.
They both waited, hoping the person calling would give up and go about their day, but as soon as the phone stopped ringing, it started up again. Jax threw the comforter off of them and sat up, scrubbing the sleep from his face. His gaze lingered on Raven’s naked body, and she could see the hunger in his gaze. Her body responded, and before Jax decided to ignore the ringing, she rolled out of bed. “Answer the phone,” she chuckled, but it turned into a wince as pain pierced between her eyelids.
Raven used the nightstand to keep from falling back onto the bed. She could hear Jax’s voice, but the pain in her head made it hard for her to concentrate on what he was saying. She reached for the water bottle on her nightstand, not sure how long it had been there but she didn’t particularly care. She didn’t know what this headache was from and hoped the water would help.
Jax’s loud curse had her turning around to see the anger in his eyes, but it was overshadowed by something else, something that made the hairs on the back of Raven’s neck stand up. “What’s wrong?” she croaked out the question, already knowing what he was going to say before he opened his mouth. She felt it in his gaze—the way her stomach felt like she had swallowed a lead ball—someone had gotten hurt.
“We need to go down to the station,” Jax’s tone was grim, and that feeling that Raven was being watched came back, intensifying. She grabbed a discarded shirt and threw it over her naked body, hating feeling like she was on display to unseen eyes.
“They found a body at Murray’s last night after we left along with a message.”
Raven swallowed loudly. “What was the message?”
