“Get on your knees,” he whispered into my ear, catching me completely unaware.

I gasped and complied immediately. Without pause, he gripped my hair and pulled me up against his chest, holding me firm as he wrapped an arm around my waist and drove into me.

“Yes!” I groaned as Alec kissed and nibbled on my ear, pumping his long, thick cock deeper into me.

“You’re mine, Violet. I’ll never let you go,” he promised.

I knew without a shadow of a doubt that he owned me down to the depths of my soul. During those moonlit hours of passion as we christened his room on every surface until candles melted down to the wick, his words resonated in my bones. In the glimmering beams of sunlight as dawn broke and we made love by the fireplace on his white fur rug, I knew what I’d found.

“Forever, Vi,” he murmured sleepily as he kissed the back of my neck one last time before pulling my body into his embrace, where we drifted off to sleep without fear of tomorrow, knowing we had this moment now.

Forever, indeed.

With Violet still sound asleep beside me, I watched as the morning sun’s reflection yawned across her delicate features. She really was beautiful. I didn’t want to wake her up, so I quietly slipped out of bed and crept to the bathroom. After I showered and dressed, I slipped out of the room without her waking.

Flashes from last night swirled around in my head and there was a skip in my step as I strolled across the castle grounds. I never thought she would find out about the piano. It had been my secret since we’d arrived in the Unseelie Court from the human realm.

The night she playedNocturne in E Flat Majorby Chopin for Ansel at the piano bar, I’d watched from the shadows, quietly observing them get closer. Ansel had always been the more human one between the two of us, whereas I’d always despised them something fierce.

Except the longer I was in Violet’s presence, the more my hatred for humans lessened. I wanted to show her, at least once, that I could be human, too. That no matter what she decided in the end, I would follow her wherever she went. It didn’t matter if that meant we stayed in the Fae realm or I spent the rest of my life in the human realm. I didn’t want to merelytellher how much I loved her, I wanted toshowher.

“Well, doesn’tsomeonelook happy?” a female voice cooed behind me. I turned around and faced Sage. “You walked right past me and didn’t even acknowledge my presence!” she laughed.

“Didn’t see you.” I turned back around to leave.

“So you finally took the plunge, huh?”

I peered over my shoulder and scowled. “Excuse me?”

Sage sauntered toward me, her long, sleek blonde hair whipping side to side. “You didn’t want to step on your brother’s toes, but I guess you did anyway from the satisfied look on your face.” She placed a hand on my shoulder and sighed. “Who would have thought a little halfling would tameyou,of all fae.”

“She didn’t tame me,” I gritted out between my teeth.

“Oh?” Sage raised a brow. “You haven’t crawled into my bed in months. I’d saytameis the right word.”

I shrugged her hand off me. “Just say what you have to say, Sage. I don’t have time to waste on you.”

She laughed. “Of course. I was going to offer to attend the Winter Solstice celebration with you since it’s been our thing for decades, but it looks like you’ll have someone else by your side this year.”

I tensed. Sage and I had always attended the Winter Solstice celebration and then afterwards … But this year would be different. Not just because of Violet, but because of what the rebels had planned. This would be a Winter Solstice for the record books.

Sage sashayed around me and stood before me. “Be careful, Alec. Violet isn’t like me. Once you get bored, you can’t just ditch her. She’s the relationship type … something you’re dreadfully allergic to.”

“Maybe I was just bored with you,” I growled. I didn’t like her slapping me in the face with my past. Violetwasdifferent. She wasn’t Sage, which made all the difference.

Sage tossed her head back and barked out a sardonic laugh. “Funny. That’s not what you used to say before, when I was calling out your name—”

“Don’t you have anything better to do?” Ansel emerged from around the corner and approached, his hands stuffed in his pockets as if he was just out for a leisurely morning stroll. My body tensed, wondering if he’d heard our conversation. “For fae’s sake, woman. Your voice grates my ears.”

Sage smirked. “Ah, here comes the sore loser.”

Ansel grinned as if her words didn’t hurt him one bit. “The only loser here is you, Sage. It’s kind of sad, really. Begging for scraps. You should move on before it getsreallyembarrassing.”

Her face tightened and she couldn’t hide the scowl on her face. “So the two warring brothers are finally on the same team. Interesting. I wonder what the Unseelie King would think about that?”
