“Probably,” he says, kissing my lips lightly with his own. I ignore Jenny’s smirk.
“I told you when we started this project it was not going to be popular and may shake up things in the industry. We’re starting to see some negative movement now that the outcome measures are looking so good. Until they came out, there was nothing for the big industries to fear. Now, all the health organizations across the nation are taking notice. Try not to let the emails worry you, Baby,” he says.
“I’ll try,” I say, looking out the oblong windows of the helicopter. The city below is breathtaking and there is a lump in my throat recalling the skyline that used to include the Twin Towers. It is a crisp clear day and the pilot easily navigates us around the city to land on the helipad across the street from the Prestian Corp towers. Sheldon and Jay assist us out of the helicopter when we land, walking beside us as we enter the prestigious underground passageway that leads us to the Prestian towers elevator. Chase inserts his passcode and just like in Chicago, when we step out of the elevator we are in the administrative areas of the complex.
He chats with the receptionist for a few moments, introducing us, while we wait for his father. We are not left waiting long as Don strolls through the waiting area and shakes Chase’s hand. “Good to see you, Chase,” he says.
“Katarina, you are looking lovely and this must be Jenny,” he says, raising my hand to his lips before reaching out to shake hands with her.
“Dad, this is Jenny Torzial. Her company will be taking occupancy as they expand to support the Prestian Corporation Medical Center facilities,” he says.
“It’s nice to meet you. Chase and Katarina have told me such nice things about you. If you’re interested in seeing the layout, I’ll give you a quick tour,” he says, smiling.
“I’d love it,” Jenny says as he leads us through the facility, stopping to introduce us to those who are working.
“It’s empty right now but I think you’ll find the space and location appealing,” Don says as we take the elevator a few floors down.
“It’s absolutely perfect and what a fantastic view,” Jenny exclaims, walking toward the perimeter offices which offer a majestic view of the bay and Manhattan city skyline beyond.
“Do you mind if we take some pictures, Don?” I ask.
“Anything you need,” he says as Jenny and I leave the men to explore the arrangement of the floor and snap a few shots of the space configuration, conference room layouts, and cubicle spaces.
He and his dad stop their conversation short as we walk back into the room and I attempt to hide my annoyance as we visit with his dad.
Jay looks down at his phone. “Flight plans are cleared and the jet should be ready to go by the time we reach the airport, Chase,” Jay says.
We are escorted from the helipad to the awaiting jet once we get to LaGuardia and as we enter the Gulfstream, Chase spends a few moments talking to his pilot and copilot before we take our seats in the living area of the cabin and prepare for takeoff. The flight is relatively short and Chase works on his Mac, Jenny is engrossed in a book, and I sign on to the internet to skim through email. Most are quick reads that bring me up to speed on the Prestian project. One of the largest facilities in L.A. is requesting cost and quality data from the medical facility project. I quickly calculate the projections and square feet for the new buildings before responding and copying Chase into the correspondence so he has the most up-to-date figures.
