The three of us step into his office. Jake settles in behind his desk as I take a seat in front of him, while Sasha stands back by the door. Reaching into the pocket of his cut, Jake pulls out a cigarette, lights it then tosses the lighter to the desk before he speaks. "As you know by now, you'll be staying here at the clubhouse until Demetri arrives."

"Did he tell you details?" I ask.

Jake takes a drag from his cigarette. "He did."

I sigh. "I assume you're not going to tell me what he told you? You know, so we can compare notes," I ask. Even though Demetri told me the gist of what is going on, I have a feeling there is more.

"It's not my place, Glory. The only thing I can tell you is Demetri called me asking a favor; for the club to keep you safe."

"Am I on lockdown?"

Jake shakes his head. "You're not on lockdown, but if you leave the compound, you are to take Sasha and one of my guys with you."

"Okay," I agree.

Jake squints his eyes and levels me with an accusing look. "Okay?"

I raise my brow and shrug. "Yeah, Jake, okay. I won't go anywhere without Sasha or one of the guys."

Jake continues to eye me skeptically. "That's it? You're not going to fight me on this or run your mouth?" he smirks.

"If I had a set of balls, this is where I'd tell you to stop busting them. I'm not always a pain in the ass," I scoff rolling my eyes. Even Sasha has a hard time holding back a snicker at my comment, and I snap my head in his direction. He schools his features rather quickly when I glare at him. Sasha is a bit uptight. I didn't think he had it in him to even smile. "I'm not always difficult," I jest. Jake tips his head back and lets out a roar of laughter.

"Not difficult?" he shakes his head. "I believe difficult is your middle name, Glory. It looks like Demetri was finally able to tame you."

"Ha, ha. Very funny. For the record, I can't be tamed, but a good dicking will mellow me out." A choking noise comes from behind me, but Jake is unfazed by my inappropriate confession. He's used to my mouth by now. "Are we done here? Grace mentioned something about margaritas and tacos when we talked last night, and I'm ready to throw down after the last forty-eight hours I've had."

Jake grins. "Yeah, sweetheart. We're done. The girls are waitin' for ya out back." Just as I am about to exit his office, Jake calls out. "Glory?"

I look over my shoulder. "Yeah?"

"I didn't get a chance to tell ya the other night, but we've missed havin' your crazy ass here; Grace, especially."

My expression softens. "I miss being here too." I look down at my feet for a moment, then back up. "I just might have to do something about that."

Before going back to see the girls, I head upstairs to the room I usually stay in when I visit. As expected, I open the door to see my suitcase and purse sitting on the bed. Walking over to the bed, I rummage through my bag until I find my cell. Tapping the screen, I place a call to Demetri. I talked to him a few hours ago, but I can't help wanting to hear his voice again.

"Glory." He answers on the second ring.

"Hi," is all I say as I sit on the edge of the bed.

"What's wrong,Krasivaya?"

"Nothing. We just made it to the clubhouse, and I wanted to hear your voice is all. You must be busy though, so I'll let you go."

"I'm never too busy for you, Glory. Even if it's for you to hear my voice."

I close my eyes and let out a deep breath. "Okay."

"Everything will be fine, baby. I'll call you tonight before you go to bed. Try and have some fun with the girls. I'm sure they already have something planned."

"They do," I chuckle. "I'll talk to you tonight."

"Tonight,Krasivaya," Demetri promises, and we hang up. I don't want to be the clingy girlfriend who's always looking for reassurance, but with Demetri, I find not doing so difficult. It took us forever to get to this place. I think for Demetri, part of it was because of the world he lives in. I think he's kept me at arm's length because he didn't want to put me in harm's way. Now with everything that has happened over the last twenty-four hours, I fear he will change his mind about wanting to be with me. That he is afraid, his world will somehow bring me harm. The way he sent me away so abruptly has put me on edge. It's making me think Demetri is having doubts; that I am not strong enough to be at his side. Those are the only two scenarios I can come up with. I hope Demetri will let me prove I can be the woman he needs; the kind of woman who is strong enough to handle whatever life throws our way. He and I have wasted too much time, and I am willing to fight for us if he is willing to do the same. I have never entirely given myself to a man the way I have Demetri. He was somehow able to break through my walls, and it allowed me to bare my soul to him. I have made it through some of the most horrific experiences life can throw at me, but Demetri letting me go is one I know I won't survive.

Shaking those thoughts away, I scold myself. "Demetri wouldn't give up on you, Glory. He is not having second thoughts." Saying those words out loud makes me realize how crazy I sound. Demetri Volkov is not the kind of man who gives up what he wants, and I know he wants me. I have to stop letting my insecurities get the better of me. Standing from the bed, I go to toss my phone back in my purse when it rings. Demetri's name flashes across the screen.I wonder what's up. We just spoke a few minutes ago."Hello," I answer.

"You have nothing to worry about,Krasivaya."
