“I got a baby dragon,” Morrigan squealed with delight, doing a little happy dance before rushing over to me, grabbing my hand. She led me over to the incubator that had appeared. I would have noticed it had I not walked into the two of them playing a game half naked.
“Hey! The pet thing was mine. Then you come in and build-a-pet for her. And adragon, really? How small is your dick to go to that level, badass?” Internally, I was laughing. Morrigan has been a breath of fresh air for all of us.
“Guess I’ll wait for Morrigan to let you know how big it is while you sit with her as a bird.” Jasper cracked up laughing, and I frowned. But then, then I remembered the kiss we shared at the feast. There was no way I was getting friend-zone points.
“Says the demon that hasn’t kissed her.” That one got him as he stopped mid-word, mouth hanging open.
“You.” He looked at me, then he looked at her, then back to me again. He narrowed his eyes at me. “When you took her to bed?”
“Nope,” I said with a smug smile. Confusion rolled off him as I visually watched him mentally searching for when it could have happened.
“The feast,” he growled.
“Can we not talk about me like I’m not here, please? Oh, and while we’re at it, let’s set some ground rules on kissing and telling amongst you boys.” Morrigan put her hands on her hips, and I felt she meant business on this one.
“Do you want us to talk about the things we do with each other?” Jasper asked.
I saw her blush and felt more waves of embarrassment.
“I, um…,” she stammered. For once, she wasn’t quick with a reply. This part was tough for her to handle. That there was more than one of us she would be with.
“I would like to know what you do with the other guys. It would be a turn on,” I said, hoping it would ease her mind to know that we were not against it. Both of us at the same time with her wasn’t something I was sure I could do yet, but hearing her joy and feeling her feel it as she relived the story for me sounded amazing.
“I’d like to hear about it as well,” Jasper murmured in agreement. It didn’t surprise me; he has had relations in the past which had more than one male. He was the Prince of Lust, after all.
“Well, as long as it isn’t starting fights, then I’m good with it.” Morrigan looked at the two of us hopefully.
“No fighting, little fox, just friendly competition. I think you will get the best end of the deal,” I said with a smile as I took her hand and pulled her from the room. “Bye, Jasper. I’ll bring her back home later.”
Morrigan kept her hand on mine the entire time we walked. I was taking her to my favorite place in the entire palace, the record hall. I pushed open the massive double doors, revealing the space inside. Every wall lined with books upon books. There were even balconies that went up three floors, providing more space. The entire room was dimly lit, with a fireplace on one wall. The fire in Hell never went out. A large leather sofa sat facing the flames, a soft blanket on the floor between them. Various pillows scattered across the blanket. Very few demons that stayed in the record hall to read sat on the sofa. There were other tables and chairs in the pockets between the standing bookshelves. The spot in front of the fireplace was mine.
“This is amazing.” Morrigan looked up to the tallest balcony, spinning around in the circular room. There was a domed glass ceiling, which showed the rings of Hell. They glistened above us like ringed moons. The daytime hours only provided a faint glow.
“I take it you like books then?” I pulled her into me, pressing her body flush against mine as I looked up to the rings of Hell shining down on us. She bristled against me a little, like she was unsure of being this close to me. I looked down into her eyes and she stopped moving. “What’s your favorite book?”
“Dark Spirits,N.A. Jameson.” She looked up at me and cocked an eyebrow.
I released her and strode over to the nearest bookshelf. I picked a book at random, handing it to her. She made a cute little sound as she got really excited. I’m guessing it was the right book.
“How?” she breathed.
“Hell provides.”
She smiled, and it was greater than any smile I had seen on her before. The food and clothes haven’t seemed to thrill her, not like this did.
She seemed to ponder something for a moment. “If Hell can just produce a book, then why are there so many on the walls?”
“Those are all spell books and demon knowledge manuscripts. They cannot be replicated, so they cannot leave this room.” There were a lot of demon books, facts and fiction that were on the manifest list, but no one can take a book that lined the walls. “Any book on the free-standing shelves can become any book in all the realms.”
“Except for special books like the ones on the wall,” Morrigan said. It was very near to a question, but she was trying to follow along.
“Correct.”
She smirked. She had gotten it right. “But then, how do I find new books to read? Ones I’ve never heard about before.”
“That is why there is an entire bookcase instead of a single book. Here.” I grabbed her hand and pulled her over to the stack. It stood as tall as she was and held five rows of books. “Think only that you want a book.”
She closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them and grabbed a book off the shelf. The change of the spines rippled out from the book she grabbed as all the others became similar titles. The magic worked so flawlessly if you blinked, you could miss the whole thing.
