“If you don’t like something about it, you can put it back and look amongst all the other titles. They have all changed now into books that match what you like,” I explained while she examined the book.

She scanned the other spines, grabbing some to pull out and consider their cover. She ended up opening up to the first chapter in the first book she had pulled out, before shutting the cover and nodding.

“If I don’t stop now, I’m just going to keep reading and then you won’t get to train me,” she said with a smile.

I dipped down to whisper in her ear, “I know what you mean, I can’t stop thinking about my lips on your neck, and my hands on your breasts, but if I go there, you won’t even make Jax’s training.”

She pulled back to look me in the eye. I was expecting maybe some anger, but she met me with pure amusement.

“That confident, are you?” Her voice was lower, like a whispering conspirator.

“Well, considering I plan on tying you up, I can make it last as long as I want. Besides, Jax has been an ass lately. I’d love to make him walk in on that when you failed to show for training.”

“You know I could escape being tied up, right. I have all the firepower stuff. I might also burn a hole in your bed because I can’t control it, but at least I would be free,” she whispered back.

Tie the ropes nice and tight. Don’t want anything leaking out.

“I wouldn’t keep you against your will. No, I would like to think you would enjoy every second. What kind of mate would I be if you didn’t?” Maybe we wouldn’t train today. If she said yes, we were done. My dungeon had been lonely for far too long now.

“I think we should get at least a little training in before we call it for the day,” she said, walking away from me and sitting down on the blanket in front of the fire.

“So, you’re saying after?” It wasn’t a no, it definitely had not been a no.

“Let’s just see how things go,” she laughed, patting the floor beside her.

Still wasn’t a no. “Ok, so as far as powers, you know I can transfer my mind into animals.”

“Yes, like when you were Crowley.” She perked up, and I was happy to see she hadn’t forgotten about the crow now that she had a baby dragon on the way.

“I used deep magic for that, actually. My normal power is just my mind. I can see what they see and maybe influence their actions. It depends on the fracture that is inside them. When I was Crowley, I had gone all the way into him and took over his movements. It is much harder to do, but entirely possible.” I enjoyed the look of excitement as she took in all the powers that we would share.

“Teach me how to do that,” she exclaimed.

“You don’t at least want to know what other powers there are?” I laughed. Her good mood was infectious, and I drank it in like a man starved. I had been starving my whole life, starved for her.

“Oh yes. Sorry.” She ducked her head in a quick apology, then collected herself to listen astutely.

“I also feel the emotions of others and I can push emotions onto people.” So far, I had not seen her exhibit any of that power.

“Oh.” Her smile fell. “Have you been doing that to me?”

“No, I haven’t, but I am sure I will one day. I do with Jasper and Jax a lot. It’s just a nudge. A bit of confidence when you are unsure, a feeling of peace when you are in pain. It’s a very subtle power, but also helpful in determining others’ intentions.” I had used it many times while hunting and it gave an edge.

Morrigan’s smile returned, and she felt more at ease. “I also use it to help counterbalance Jasper’s nature.” Morrigan looked confused. Guess he hadn’t told her all his abilities and weaknesses. We were never sure which one this qualified as. “When you are around him, you may feel more on edge, or ready to fight. Sometimes that fight even goes internal and you will war with yourself. It is a power he has, but he cannot control it. It makes it hard for him to get close with anyone, because there’s always a push and pull with him.

“That feels about right, actually.” Morrigan looked like she was mentally examining her interactions with him under a new lens.

“You know demons heal really quickly and are stronger and faster than humans, right?” I asked. If Jasper hadn’t even told her the basics, I would really need to start with that.

“No, but I sort of figured out the healing thing when I broke my hand punching Jasper,” she grumbled as she looked at her fist.

“Demons also take on power runes after we have mastered the spells for it. I have my spells inked in poison, which makes my blood extremely toxic. We are also immune to all poison, so you never have to worry about that.” Poisoning wasn’t common in the demon world, anyway.

“Good to know. Will I have toxic blood as well? I gave a drop to the dragon.” Concern flashed through her.

“Not until you choose the poison runes. Only those with toxic immunity have the possibility of taking poison runes, but it does not mean you have to.” I wondered what she would decide when the time came. Few chose the poison. It wouldn’t kill a demon, but it would knock one out for several hours.

“So, is that all I have coming from you?” Playfulness shined in her eyes.
