“You say the weirdest things,” he said.

Oh, his voice. All the hairs on my arms stood up as chills raced down my spine when I heard him. It was so naturally low, but incredibly smooth.

“Where am I?” This alien, no matter how sexy his voice was, knew my language and let me make a fool of myself. No, sir.

“You are in your bedroom, in the palace.” He watched me like a predator would.

“This is definitely not my room. I would like to go back to my actual home now.” I readied myself in case he might lunge at me.

“This is your room. This is your home now.” He fucking smirked at me again. But that voice commanded me with its tone. Making me somehow want to accept that this is my home. His words were so final. Some deep part of me wanted nothing more than to obey him.

Fuck that.

“You are going to take me home, to my bedroom on Earth.” I pulled up every bit of conviction I had in that statement.

He laughed again, but this time it sounded forced. “You can think whatever you want princess, but you’re mine now.”

He leveled me with a look full of promises.

Fuck Me. No wait, fuck that.

Fuck that. I was not staying anywhere against my will. He would have to kill me first.

“I’ll never belong to you,” I scoffed.

He smiled. It was a wicked smile that matched his stare. It was a challenge. I’ve seen that look in Sheila’s eyes more than once. When that girl wanted something, she would blow up the moon if that was what it took.

He stood, but I stood my ground. I watched as a long red snake-like creature curled up around his waist. Wait, no. It was his tail. It flicked back and forth as if it were mocking me. He had a long, red, blunt tail.

“My name is Jasper. Welcome to Hell.” His outreached hand startled me, and I took a step back. Hitting the wall behind me. I let the words sink into my brain. Horns. Tail. Hell.Hell.

“Oh fuck, really? Dammit, I’m dead. Fuck, I don’t even remember dying.” The words tumbled from my mouth as my runaway thoughts leaked out. That crazy dream I had. Fuck. I hid my eyes with a hand as I shook my head. “I died in a sacrifice to Satan, didn’t I? I tried to tell him not to read from the creepy ass fucking book.”

A smile creeped across his face, which I took to mean that I was right. Fucking creepy ass books always send you to Hell.

“Close,” he said with a smile.

Jeez, getting information out of this guy was impossible.

“Do you care to elaborate?” I left no lack of attitude in my tone. I mean apparently, that whole “over my dead body” thing, he already had that covered. I’m stuck in Hell, forever.

He turned and walked out of the fucking room. I went to follow him, but he shut the door before I got there. The click of a lock sent my entire body into panic mode. I looked around for something on my end to open the door, but there was nothing but an immovable handle. Pounding on the door with my fists, I screamed for anyone that may be out there. Guess Hell would have a lot of screaming and banging on doors. I screamed until my throat grew raw and the skin on my hands burst open.

My legs gave out first, sliding down to the floor. My hands slid down the door as I went, leaving a bloody trail in their wake. Heaviness settled over my eyes and my body felt light as a feather. I just needed to rest for a moment. As a bonus, if he came back and opened the door, I could try to escape.

CHAPTER2

JUSTICE

“What’s she doing in there?” Jasper worried as he paced the floor. His tail swished back and forth irritably. I waited for him in the war room once I felt the call and it didn’t surprise me when he told me he answered the call.

My mind reached across the distance, ensnaring the mind of a nearby crow. I always kept a few close. I saw the image of what the bird was seeing. A view outside the castle looking into one suite. There was a girl lying on the floor, her hands bloody.

“She’s asleep for now. Banged herself up on the door. Passed out at the base. Careful you don’t trip when you go back in there,” I reported, releasing the crow’s sight.

Jasper visibly relaxed. Our girl.

Apparently, the hunk of flesh in the other room was my mate. I thought we all had an agreement. It took all my force of will to ignore the call, but I had. Jasper clearly hadn’t. I wasn’t mad about it. I felt little about a lot of things.
