“I’ll have that in case we need it later,” I said with a returning smirk.
“Flirty Jax is fun. Make sure he hangs out for a while.” She bit her lip and winked at me before turning around to face the other boys.
“Let’s go,” she said excitedly.
DÆD was a popular club on ring two. That was the ring shrouded in darkness. They only received slightly more light than ring one did. They considered us the depths of Hell, so it made sense for us to be dark.
Light crystals were all over ring two, every color and size. So naturally, everything you would like to do in the shadows was there for you any time of any day.
Considering we were princes, we’d merely walked right in and taken to a private balcony above the large dance floor below. We had several tables, chairs, booths, and even one small bed with a privacy curtain, all available for us.
The atmosphere all around us vibrated with energy the same way Justice had. The lights were low, with bands of crystals around the edges of the rooms casting only a faint glow. Most of the demons wore crystal paint, which glowed when the demon pushed power into it. From above, the dance floor looked like a sea of glowing colors as demons pulsed with power while dancing.
I watched Morrigan look down excitedly, and she asked Jasper a million questions. He was standing behind her, his arms wrapped around her. She would turn to yell into his ear, then he would lean down to answer her. I watched her face as she reacted to whatever news he gave her. Excitement. Happiness.
He called over our attendant, yelling something to him as he handed out one of his carvings. One of those fucking things would probably pay for our entire evening. Justice makes shit out of bones. I don’t even know how the little psycho gets ahold of so many bones. I paint, and I don’t share my paintings with anybody.
Not long after, the attendant came back with a cart full of the crystal paint in every color it comes in. Each little pot had its own brush. Morrigan stood still, raising her arms out wide as Jasper began painting little designs on her skin. He took a deep red, making a thick and slightly dripping line right across her eyes from hairline to hairline.
Justice came up, taking the white paint and drew runes in a straight line from her forehead to her nose. He gave her a quick peck on her lips before swiping the paint down the front of her chin. She looked like a warrior. She looked my way and then looked at the paint.
I knew what she wanted. I strode over to her, giving Jasper and Justice a firm nod. Before she had come along, we were a pack, and they knew me better than any other souls. They each grabbed an arm, holding her still between them. I grabbed the red brush Jasper put back, wiping the edges to make a nice simple point. I got down on my knees in front of her and I could have sworn I heard her gasp. But it was way too fucking loud in here for that.
I began drawing where her plunging neckline ended. I drew a small crown. She looked at it and smiled in approval, sending power through the crystals so they all lit up at once.
“That’s amazing,” I could hear her yell.
I got up and took a few steps back while Jasper and Justice released her.
The attendant arrived, bringing along Jasper’s friends. We had all met before, casually, of course. Their names were Ryan, Springfield, and Zebadiah. They were a pack like we are, but much lower in power. They seemed to do well at hunting though, plus their friendship with Jasper kind of made them popular amongst the commoners.
Morrigan walked up to them confidently, talking and laughing like they were already familiar. It occurred to me just how much time I had actually missed out on by keeping her at arm’s reach. But I didn’t have any friends. I didn’t have an exciting life to show her. I could never give her this. I cast the spell to retreat into the shadows, where I could relax and just watch her as she enjoyed the world. This was my place. She belonged out there.
I saw her look around for me after a few minutes of chatting with the group. Concern flashed over her features.
“I’m still here, babe. Have fun. I will watch you,”I encouraged.
Her concern melted into a soft smile. She turned back to the group, and they all headed down the stairs. Justice bound along behind.
They hit up the bar first, throwing back several shots. After the second one, Justice pulled her to him sharply, then whispered into her ear. They kissed and then she bit his neck. Justice had a look of pure pleasure on his face as she drank from him. I wondered what that would feel like.
She did a good job of being discreet about it, but then I realized she was drinking Justice’s blood. Toxic enough to wipe a demon out on their ass for hours. She just juice boxed poison and was still standing. She must have Justice’s poison immunity, which meant she was probably buzzed up a bit right now.
It wasn’t long before she started swaying to the music where she stood. Justice moved in swiftly, molding his body to hers as they moved in time with the beat. Her hands looped around his neck as his hands trailed across her back. They looked good together. Happy even.
The song ended as a new one bled into the old one. Jasper finally averted his attention away from his friends to notice Morrigan and Justice. He slammed the last shot, then strode over to them, fitting himself right up against Morrigan’s back. His hands gripped her hips tightly as he moved with her.
That itching urge to cut off one of their hands came rushing back to me. I wanted to touch her and a part of me wanted to want to be touched. But that was absurd.
She leaned back into Jasper, keeping her hold on Justice as she pulled him in for an intense kiss. The other demons just avoided bumping into them as they stood moments away from full on sex in the club. Which was perfectly acceptable amongst demon standards, but I could not tolerate leaving eyeballs intact to glimpse my mate.
“Time to make it more private, don’t you think?”I hissed.
“Jealous?”Her voice was all breathy in my head.
“Murderous. Too many demons with their eyes on you,”I growled lightly.
“Will you still watch us?”She groaned inside my head. Justice was trailing a hand up her thigh. Her light crystals flickered with her power surges.
