I immediately headed for the war room and the boys were right behind me. We had a case to solve.
CHAPTER25
JASPER
Somehow, we had collected a lot of useful information while we were on Earth. Mor was another great asset as she told us about the pop-up concerts. The missing people vanished on or near the date of a concert. We really needed to figure out what kind of ritual the guy had been trying to perform, and maybe that could lead us in the right direction.
We worked tirelessly for the first few days. Piecing together every lead we could find. Then there wasn’t any more info to connect. Justice headed to the record hall, determined to find a ritual that matched, or its language. The problem was, each realm had their own sets of books that could not be duplicated. Unless he could match it similar enough to one that we had in our collection, the chances of that working were slim. Jax had taken off to a hunting cabin again. Fucker didn’t have friends, but he had a network.
Mor had taken to jotting down notes in a little leather book she carried with her all the time. She didn’t carry her phone around, though. She could talk to each one of us in our minds. So far, she hadn’t even made friends with other demons. We would have to solve this case so we could take her to more feasts.
“Princess, come here. You’re exhausted and running on wisps of energy. Come eat, rest a little,” I said to her from the pack cave. Mor and Justice kept calling it a fucking nest. I would make it pack cave by sheer force of will.
“Just a minute,” she said, her gaze fixated in her little journal.
“Princess, I said come here. I will get up out of this cave and drag you in here. Now.” I put on my meaning business face. At least it made her lookup from the damn book.
She raised her eyebrows at me in challenge. Well. Her funeral.
I got up off the bed, and her eyes widened. I have carried her twice; she should have known.
Quick as a fox, she took off out of the room, using her vampire speed. She had used none of her ghost powers since she got the vampire ones. I’d have to ask her about that. I gave her about a two second head start before I stalked after her. I didn’t need to chase my princess; Hell would lead me to her, anyway.
I leisurely strolled the halls, but no hallway appeared, and all the doors were permanent ones. Meant she had not left one of the core rooms. I checked her bedroom first, but unless she slipped past me when I checked her closet, she wasn’t there. My room was the next obvious place to look, but she wasn’t there either. I got frustrated. It meant she was in one of the other boys’ rooms.
Jax’s room was in the same condition it always was. Sheets loose and pillows spread, but otherwise empty. He broke things whenever something upset him. So, he protected everything from himself in his own way. That left only Justice’s room.
I felt a pang of jealousy in that, like he was winning over the rest of us. Mor was sitting in the nest by the fire, hunched over a book.
“Found you,” I said lamely, all the fight from earlier disappearing.
She turned to look at me and gave me a sad smile. It had been nothing more than a sad smile since she found out her best friend was missing.
“I’m sorry. You will rest, though. Running yourself ragged will not help Sheila. If you find a lead, you need to be strong enough to act on it at that moment. That means having power,” I said softly. Walking over and taking a seat next to her.
Her skin was paler than before. She hadn’t even kept up on feeding her vampire side. Her entire body was running low on power.
She was always trying to use her mental powers to see if she could find any information. She took crows out, going into the minds of several at a time sometimes. She could control where they went, and she could look between them. The goal, she claimed, was to get into as many birds as possible on Earth for the next concert. Jax was trying to get into contact with demons on Earth that could survey the social media tags.
She wanted to watch and see if she could figure out who was taking people, and we could swoop in, stop them, and then figure out where the others were. Happily ever after. I worried it would not be.
“Come on, drink up Princess,” I said, tilting my head to the side.
She was in my lap in an instant, her eyes darkening. Lines like vines of shadow were growing beneath her skin. It almost looked like the crystal paint we put on her at the club. Fuck, it felt like that was forever ago. Her fangs sliced into my neck, and I growled under the pressure of how good it felt.
“Good girl,” I said, cradling the back of her head. “I’m here for whatever you need, take it.” I informed her. It wasn’t her giving up on finding her friend. She needed her power boosted, and she needed to take a break from using her power.
Her hand reached down and grabbed my cock, squeezing hard. I was hard for her the moment her fangs dug into my neck.
“Mm mmm,” she moaned, grasping and squeezing me.
“Princess, why don’t you lie down, and let me do all the work,” I tempted her. I’d let her take me like the fiery fox she was, but I had a feeling she needed to be cared for. I was the Prince of Lust, after all. I know my sex.
She climbed out of my lap. She burned off all her clothes, then laid down on the floor with a pillow under her head as she gazed at the fireplace. Well, that answers that. Justice’s side table had a bowl on it. Hell gift arrival. There was scented oil in there, a nice mahogany apricot. Massage oil, she needed to relax according to Hell.
I dipped a hand into the oil, warming my hands with the fire inside me. I spread the oil between both of my hands as I came over and straddled her legs. I grabbed a pillow and pulled her up so I could shove the pillow under her. I’m pretty sure that was what I was supposed to do. I wasn’t exactly familiar with giving massages, but I have received plenty.
My grip slipped because of all the oil, and my other hand came back dry since I left all the oil on the pillow. I sighed. I could do better.
