“I thought there’s no power usage in here?” I still couldn’t feel any of my demon power. My ghost power had been inaccessible since my vampire side turned on, other than losing opacity.
“That isn’t power. That’s in our bodies. Our saliva and our tears have healing abilities. They really didn’t teach you anything about being a vampire?” He looked at me for a minute and it felt like he was really looking at me.
There was blood all over his neck, dripping down onto his chest under his shirt. I imagined blood covered me from the chin down. Whenever I rushed, it was always messy.
“I don’t think you know how to properly feed,” he said with a smirk.
“Oh no, I can feed. I was just trying to see if I could kill you first.” I smiled back, showing teeth, hoping they were stained red with his blood still.
He smiled. Oh no. I wasn’t sure what he was trying to say with that smile, but it felt like my heart bottomed out. “You should be messy. No, you are half starved. How much blood did you have when you awoke?”
Memories of being with Justice filled my mind. I missed being with him in his nest. I wanted to just cuddle up with him and read books. If it ever rained in Hell, cuddling up with him by the fire while reading books under his windowed roof, sounded like my perfect day.
“I don’t know. A few mouths full.” I shrugged the best I could against his hold.
“You needed much more than that, love.” I felt him slightly press me into the wall harder.
“How much blood should I be drinking?” I felt the thirst rising in me again. It really was like a monster inside me screaming to be set free.
“During the transition, you need a constant supply of blood. But it only takes a couple of hours to complete. You haven’t even passed fledgling level yet. It’s nothing to worry about, love, that minor bump from me should tide you over for a bit.” He seemed rather amused. “I’ll have to unlock your full vampire nature one of these days. I think I’ll make you earn that one, since you’re gaining more power from it.”
“Why don’t we do it now? I can drink from you all night. Or you can invite some guards in, and I can drain them. Might be best for you in planning if you know my capabilities. You have no idea how powerful I am.” Really, I didn’t know how powerful I was, either.
“Tempting offer,” he growled, grinding his hips into me, and I could feel he was hard as a rock. Warmth shot through me, and I tried to squeeze my thighs together. That only squeezed me into him harder.
“Is sex part of this transition thing?” I whispered into his ear.
“Mmmmmm,” he growled, and his chest vibrated against mine again. “It doesn’t have to be, but sometimes it is. The blood lust takes over.”
“So, is it normal for you to fuck your blood lusted up baby vampires when you help them turn?” I said, my voice loud and harsh as I raised an eyebrow at him.
“They throw themselves at me before they’ve even gotten a drop of blood in them. Plus, the blood lust only directs you towards someone you harbor lust for.” He raised his eyebrows like he was accusing me of something.
He looked at my face again, searching for some answer to an unknown question. He released my hands, and I jumped off him. I stood leaning against the wall as he backed up to give us some space.
“Go back to your room, Morrigan. Get some sleep. I’ll figure out a way to get you out of this room while still under control.” He didn’t even look at me when he said it, gazing instead at my pitiful excuse for a room.
“My mattress sucks, my blanket is cold and itchy, and it’s way too fucking bright in this room to get any sleep,” I huffed, hoping somehow in his mind I had made enough of an impression to get some favors thrown my way.
“Go to bed, Morrigan.” This time he looked at me, his eyes flashing white again.
I sighed and ducked back through the door into my room. I heard the door shut with a loud clang before hearing the bolt lock slide into place. I made it back to the bed, curling up into a ball and placing the itchy blanket back over me and my head. I heard a click before I was plunged into darkness.
I ripped my head free from the blanket, finding my surroundings perfectly dark. I was far from comfortable, but it was something.
“Thank you,” I yelled, hoping he heard me. I can be reasonable.
“You owe me one now, love,” his voice rang through the speaker silky smooth.
I shook my head and shifted around to get comfortable. Waking up to find a new bed with blankets and pillows might be worth a favor; if he’s lucky.
CHAPTER28
JASPER
“When are you planning on waking her up? She’s slept half the damn day away,” Justice whined yet again. It had been quite a while since he had spent some time with our little princess.
I checked my phone. It was well past lunchtime already, but then again, she was a vampire. Maybe if we hadn’t demanded her at first ring light every day, we would have noticed she enjoyed being up at night.
