I bit into him more savagely than I intended. Unable to hold myself back when a part of me reveled in the promise of blood for the next upcoming hours.
Vampire after vampire offered me their blood. Men and women of all types. My feeders blurred into each other as my mind focused in on the blood. Several times, the blood was ripped away from me and I snarled until another piece of flesh was thrust into my mouth. There wasn’t enough blood in the world. I spread the blood across my skin as if I could absorb it into me. The power inside me continued to grow. I just needed more blood.
“Enough,” a voice growled. And yet again, the blood was ripped away from me. “Everybody out.”
I felt a growl building in my chest. I wasn’t done. I was almost there; I could feel it. I just needed more. I would find more.
My vision was messed up. Everything looked so dark. I followed the smell. There was something near me that smelled delicious.
“We have been at this for four hours straight, darling. Something has got to give.” Jace. A part of my mind whispered back to me. Jace was delicious.
I lunged blindly, aiming for the spot where the scent was strongest. Cold hands stopped me, tilting my head up almost painfully. I tried to wrestle my head free, but his hold on me was tight.
“You are a fearsome predator, darling.” I heard him smile, and it made me smile.
“You just need something stronger to set you over the edge,” he said, walking backwards, pulling me along with him. He sat down. I was more than happy to climb up onto his lap. His hold on my hair kept me from getting to any of his skin.
I growled.
“You’re so close aren’t you, darling?” he whispered in my ear.
So close to the power. So close to the blood. So close.
He released his hold on me and I did not hesitate, sinking my fangs in and moaning as the taste of the blood exploded against my lips. I bit in again and again, forcing more blood out. Feeding on demons meant constantly biting, or else the wound would heal too quickly.
“Fuck, Mor,” Jace grunted from beneath me. “Slow down, darling. Bite once and leave your fangs in, then suck.”
He instructed, and it felt like such a chore to even contemplate slowing. I felt hands running slowly across my spine, helping to calm me slightly. I focused on keeping my fangs where they were, and I just sucked. The blood rushed into my mouth, and I could quickly swallow it down before I pulled for more.
I still needed more, but his gentle caress down my spine encouraged me to keep this pace. His other arm encircled me, holding me tightly to him. Warmth spread through me, and my hands fisted in his hair, forcing his neck further to the side. The darkness around my vision was being replaced by light. I tried to look up at the ceiling, but all I saw was blinding white light all around me.
I released my fangs from his skin, leaning back with my head held to the sky. They were whispering secrets to me. Secrets from the very beginning of time.
“One to save all. All to save one.”
I felt the power explode within me, filling my veins. It interweaved with my demon powers, connecting them, and marking them as mine. My vision cleared. The fog that had settled over my mind while I was lost to the thirst evaporated.
“Mine.” Jace growled, his eyes as brilliant white as the light that had just shined before my eyes.
He grabbed the back of my head, pulling me against him. Stopping with his nose on my neck, he inhaled deeply. His tongue licked the tender skin there, making me shiver. Sharp fangs replaced his tongue, sinking into my flesh delicately. The bite of pain like a jolt of electricity through my already over sensitive body.
I felt him growl in frustration. “You heal so fucking fast,” his lips whispered across my skin.
“You have to bite,” I whispered. I needed him to bite me.
His growl turned predatory, right before he attacked my neck as savagely as I had done for him. The moment he sucked; I felt the pull everywhere. Even in my toes. I felt my nipples harden into peaks as they even got a pull from that. Holy shit, if this was what being a juice box feels like, I can’t believe I haven’t made one of the boys come like this yet.
I tried to pull back from him as emotions centered on my mates filled my mind, but his muscular arms held me close. Teeth tore through my flesh faster than I could heal. My demon power only dipped as much as my vampire power did. I think I replenished my magic through the demon way or the vampire way. One way to check.
I set the chair on fire. Jace released me in a flash, jumping up as soon as one flame touched his skin. He whisked both of us away in an instant. His body was fitting protectively against my back with both of his arms securing my front. I still couldn’t figure out how he was so damn fast.
I laughed as I recalled the flame. It lived inside me with perfect harmony. Now I had a measurable size dip in my power. It was time to test part two. I grabbed Jace’s arm and bit into it and pulled as much blood as I could manage before he ripped his arm free from me and grabbed me by the back of my neck.
“What the hell was that all about, darling? I thought we were having a good time?” He attempted a lighter tone, but I could hear the strain beneath it.
“Just testing a theory,” I said sweetly. It felt like I only had one very large tank of power now, and it didn’t matter which magic I used with it.
“I hadn’t satiated my thirst yet,” he growled.
