It didn’t matter to me how or why it happened. I don’t care that he was a boy when it happened. He took our mother from us.
“You won’t kill him,” I growled out, taking another shot. There was no way I was considering this as an option.
“Probably not. But I will do what is right by the people. You know, the vampires you claim to fight so hard for. Killing Ailill isn’t about the people. That’s about you.” Sebastian’s words cut through all the bullshit I had been repeating in my head for years.
Looking down at the drinks remaining on the table, I knew I was being selfish. But I didn’t care. He owed me a life for the one he took from me.
“But maybe she just isn’t worth that much,” Sebastian said lowly.
My gaze whipped to his, then something blue behind him caught my attention. Why the fuck was she here?
She moved through the crowd and vampires quickly moved out of her way. She just had this power about her that was almost tangible. Any lessor being would know to stay away. Her gaze was fixated on a vampire in the corner, short ruby red hair and black eyeliner. The look in her eyes told me she was on a hunt.
I took off, blocking her path. “Hello, love. Didn’t expect to see you here tonight.”
She looked mildly annoyed. “It’s not like I knew about a ton of different places, and I was hungry. I hate those fucking cups of blood you serve me. I’m practically starved.”
Blood cups sucked. But they worked. She would bite no one but me.
“You can drink from me,” I growled out.
Her eyes darkened, and I worried just how little control she still held. I should have at least given her more blood.
“Come on, back to the table. At least be classy about it,” I hissed, grabbing her hand and pulling her along.
Sebastian saw us coming and moved over so I could put Morrigan beside me.
“Hello, Sebastian. I didn’t mean to interrupt brother bonding time. I can take a quick sip and be on my way,” Mor said innocently, like she wasn’t planning on escaping.
“Oh no, please stay for a while. Jace was just talking about you,” Sebastian purred.
She glanced at me with interest. “Oh, yeah?” she asked, turning back to my brother.
“Seems you have made quite the impression on my brother. I hear you have three demon mates. I take it you’re ok with having so many of them,” Sebastian probed, and I knew what he was doing.
“Oh, so that’s what all the fuss is about. Trying to do the math and figure out how many demon cocks I can take at once? You should see what they can do with their tails.” She closed her eyes, and a little smile came to her face.
She peeked an eye open, then laughed, and Sebastian joined along with her. “I like her,” he said, reaching over to hit me in the shoulder.
“Well, I’m glad one of you does.” Mor huffed. She gave me a challenging glare.
“He says your blood tastes like the most exquisite blood in the entire realm.” Sebastian added, and I suddenly felt ambushed.
“Is that so?” Mor said, looking at me with a smile.
I’m going to kill him.
“Would you like a taste? Maybe give me a second opinion,” she said, holding out her wrist for him.
I felt the monster beneath my skin rising. She was mine.
“No,” I growled out, grabbing her arm and yanking it back. “No one drinks from you.”
“I can’t drink from anyone but you. No one gets to drink from me. Sounds like someone doesn’t share well. Too bad, I enjoy the sharing.” She took one of our shots and slammed it down. Her face scrunched up for a second and then smoothed out into a smile. “This stuff is actually pretty good.”
For once in my life, I had absolutely no idea what to do.
