“He isn’t a member of thepackyet. But he can be in the harem, or whatever.” Jax said, rolling his eyes at Jasper.
“No issues about how much more powerful that will make us, Jax?” Justice asked, flicking the tip of a knife with his finger.
“I’m pretty sure we already smashed that wall down. What’s one more?” Jax’s tone was flat, but I was pretty sure I saw the faint edge of a smile.
“Do we go after him now? Or later?” I wasn’t sure if Jace really felt that strongly toward me or not. I mean, he was next in line to be king.
“Now we go home. Ailill or Sebastian will capture Jace and then portal him to us in Hell.” Jasper said, shocking the hell out of me.
“What?” I blinked several times, not understanding how this fit together.
“Sebastian told us Jace had you captive here. We were at the fae council. Oh, and we found Sheila. She’s doing good, actually. I have her number for whenever you want to come and visit mid-realm.” Justice said, handing me a new phone. Must be one for this realm or something.
I turned on the screen and looked at the contacts, seeing both Sheila and Sebastian had their names in there. How much of all this had Sebastian known?
“What happened at the council meeting?”
The boys looked at each other as if asking which of them should do the recanting.
“We used your notebook to track down the concert in the human realm, which led us to Sheila. She’s very close with the King.” Jasper raised his eyebrows as if I hadn’t caught the obviously suggestive tone he was using.
“During the council we met Sebastian, who told us that his brother had taken a demonling hostage that he planned to use to kill King Ailill,” Justice continued the story. I can’t believe Sebastian would betray his brother like that.
“Sebastian proposed Jace’s life forfeit to us. Then he would take the vampire crown and since he just stopped an attack on Ailill’s life, he hoped they could work together.” Jax finished the tale.
“So, when they find Jace, they’re just going to bring him to us?” I clarified.
“Well, he will be given the choice of death or handed over to the demons,” Jasper supplied.
“So, you’re asking him to be with me or die?” I hope they understood there was no way Jace and I were at that level.
“Actually, we didn’t know about the mate thing then. It’s death or demon pet. The two of you being mated is just a bonus, because then he could become part of the pack.” Justice was looking around the trees. No doubt he was scanning through the eyes of all the wildlife, looking for Jace.
“He’ll choose death,” I informed the boys. Vengeance for his mother’s death and being king were about the only things Jace really cared about.
“Then we find him first,” Justice said, looking me in the eye and smiling.
“I thought we were going to wait in Hell for them to bring him to us,” Jax muttered.
“Not if he’s going to get himself killed,” Justice said, throwing a rock at Jax.
Jax looked at the spot on his chest. The rock had been coated with mud and left a large splat against his fresh black shirt. He rolled his eyes, and I watched in awe as all the mud gathered and flung free from Jax’s clothes.
“You have to teach me that one,” I said with a smile. It felt so good to have my boys back. And once Jace got over losing his kingdom, I think he will fit in quite fine with the rest of us. If we could get him to agree not to get himself killed, that is.
“Princess, where would this vampire mate of yours be?” Jasper asked.
I really knew little about Jace. But he wouldn’t have left me out here in the woods with something coming unless he knew I was safe. There’s a chance he knew it was my demons, so he left. He would have gone back to his brother at the club.
“To the club!” I rallied, throwing my hands in the air.
The boys just stood around me silently. Oh right, they couldn’t hear any of my internal ramblings.
“He would likely talk to his brother if he figured out who you guys were. We were just with his brother in the club.” There, that should help a little more.
“His brother Sebastian, correct fox,” Justice added, and I gasped.
“Yup. Let’s get moving then,” I took off with all my vampire speed toward the club. It didn’t take long at all, and the boys were right on my heels. Hah, at least I was still faster than them.
