The vampire bouncer stood as still as a statue outside the club. I didn’t seem to have any issues getting in earlier. Glancing down at the sticks and leaves inside the rips and stains of my dress may have something to do with it.
“Move,” I yelled, grabbing my demon power, and using it to whip the vampire to the side a few feet. Damn, that was hard.
I hadn’t moved him far enough to knock him off balance. He braced himself, then hissed at me before lunging. The guard was halted mid-step before being flung backward violently, until he was pinned against the wall of the club.
“I believe she wanted you to stay over here,” Jax growled out.
“Damn, we need to do way more physical training together,” I said, giving Jax a smirk. That shit was hot as hell.
Jax smiled back. I just wanted to run up and kiss him.
“Princess, your vampire is waiting.” Jasper broke me free from my brief fantasy. There would be time for playing later.
I walked through the door to the club. The lights were all red, low, and slowly pulsing. They emptied the dance floor out, and the stages were bare. The demons followed me into the club, looking around for anyone at all.
“Morrigan?” came a voice from the shadows.
“Sebastian?”
He stepped out even further until he was faintly illuminated. It was Sebastian, but right now, I wasn’t sure if that was a good or a bad thing.
“Where’s Jace?” I asked tentatively.
Sebastian sighed and sat down at one of the tables. The tables and chairs were ever so slightly disheveled, as if everyone got out at the same time.
“When I got home and found out he was mated to you, I really hoped I could talk him into just leaving with you. It would have been so much easier on him if he just left.” Sebastian pulled a flask from his pocket and winked at me.
“Where’s Jace?” I heard the fear in my voice.
“Considering he never came back here; I would wager he figured it out. Or maybe he went with the plan, that he told father. He knew you wouldn’t pick him over them. And he couldn’t leave without finishing his business with Ailill.” Sebastian stared at me hard, and I could see it. No matter what, Jace had some big, unfinished business.
“We need to get to King Ailill first,” I said, looking back at my boys.
“I’ll call Sheila and have her give the king a heads up,” Justice said, holding up his phone excitedly.
“Hey, she’s my best friend. I want to call her.” I couldn’t help but smile. Somehow, I kept forgetting that my demons could make anything possible.
“If he comes back here, call us. I want him alive.” I still didn’t trust Sebastian.
“Of course. He’s my brother.” Sebastian smiled, taking another swig from his flask. I wondered what he kept in there. “Oh, and next time can you try not to kill the guards, so the alarms aren’t triggered.” He pointed with his finger to the lights around the room.
“We didn’t kill him,” I started, but Justice signaled I wasn’t quite right.
I rolled my eyes and looked at Jax. “Have a bit of a hard time controlling your strength?”
Jax just pointed to Jasper. I gasped.
“What?” Jasper asked innocently.
“Why did that guard deserve to die?” I put my hands on my hips and tilted my head at him.
“Because he didn’t stay there?” Jasper’s eyes shifted to the other boys for backup.
“Let’s try not to kill anyone else tonight, ok boys?”
