I can’t hide the anger and hurt in my expression. “He didn’t think I was good enough for you.”

Hazel takes my face in her hands. “I never thought that about you. If anything, you ending our friendship seemed like the next logical step in the social hierarchy. You become the jock that you wanted to be. You had girls lined up to get your attention. I knew I couldn’t compete. And I figured you did too.”

The pain in her voice when she admits what she thought I felt feels like a knife cutting into me. If only I had been honest with her, I wouldn’t have put her through all that pain. If I could take the pain from her I would, without a second thought to myself.

I break free from her grip and crush my lips against hers. The touch, the taste of kissing her is like a salve on my heart. Suddenly, after waiting all those years, dreaming of this day it’s finally come.

I grab her ass and lift her onto the counter. I position myself between her thighs and press my hard cock against her sensitive center. Her legs lock around me, like she’s trying to keep me in place. As if I’d every pull away from her now, knowing what I know. My grip on her ass tightens and pull her towards me, thrusting my hips, trying to get some friction between us and easy some of the pleasurable ache growing inside me.

Hazel pulls her mouth away from mine to take in a breath. I kiss my way down the soft, creamy skin of her neck, down to the swell of her full breasts. I tug at the strap of her tank top, so I can get a full view of her. A pink nipple pops out from beneath the fabric and I lean down to latch onto it. Circling my tongue around its peak and tugging gently with my teeth. The sounds of pleasure coming out of Hazel is better than I ever imagined.

My cock is rock hard and aching to tear through the fabric of my jeans, but I don’t let up on worshiping her breasts. My hips keep pressing against her and I’m nearly ready to come and I’m not even inside her.

“Wait,” Hazel breathes out. “Let’s go in the bedroom.”

I don’t need further promoting. I wrap my arm around her waist and lift her off the counter and walk us both down the hall to her room. Hazel pulls off her tank top just as I kick open the door and lay her down on the bed.

I strip out of my clothes and crawl up the bed to her, stopping halfway to pull off her little shorts.

“I can’t believe this is finally happening,” she giggles as I kiss my way up her body.

“It’s going to be happening a lot from now on,” I say, as I settle between her thighs. “You ready?”

She nods. I push slowly inside her. The feeling is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. My love for this woman fills me completely as I fill her. In and out, I pump my hips, building the pleasure between us. My self-control has its limits and it’s taking everything in me to take it slowly.

“Faster,” Hazel breathes out, and its music to my ears.

I thrust faster and harder inside her. The moans coming from both of us let me know that we are both so close. The orgasm hits us both. The pleasure consuming every cell and nerve ending in our bodies. We move as one, riding the high together until it slow subsides, and we are just a tangle of arms and legs. She falls asleep in my arms and I try to fight my heavy lids but eventually lose out.

Chapter 7

HAZEL

Before leaving this morning for work, Ethan promised to meet me for lunch. I don’t have school today, so I sleep in to catch up on my rest. Ethan and I didn’t leave my bed all weekend. We could barely make it to the fridge for food without getting lost in the other.

It’s almost noon when I get up to get ready. The sun is shining and I’m in love. It still boggles my mind that just three days ago, Ethan and I were practically strangers and now—

BOOM!

The force of whatever just happened knocks me to the ground. I can feel the impact of some kind of explosion course though me. I push myself to my feet and run to the front door. Many of my other neighbors are coming outside to try and find out what happened too.

“Was that an earthquake?” someone asks.

“No, that was an explosion,” another person explains.

The sound of sirens piercing loudly in the distance makes my heart drop to my stomach like a stone in water. Ethan was at the fire house today. Whatever just happened, he’s probably on his way to see what it was.

I turn and run back inside to grab my car keys. I barely have the sense to get my shoes on before I’m running for my car. Another sound of sirens ring out and I decide since I don’t know where I’m going, I will follow the sirens.

I’m only two blocks away from my house when I see the huge plume of smoke billowing up over the tree line. It’s coming from the direction of the old mines outside of town. They were shut down nearly forty years ago. There’s no reason for anyone to be in them, let alone something exploding.

I drive as far as I can down the old road that leads to the mines. I’m not the only person in town that is looking to find out what happened. I pull off to the side of the road as far as I can and cut the engine. I can run faster than waiting to see if I can get anywhere in my car.

Police tape is up and blocking the entrance to the mineshaft opening. A crowd of townspeople are standing around blocking what’s happening. I push my way to the front, ignoring the comments from the other people.

I look around at two of the fire fighters talking into their radios. I look to see if either of them are Ethan, but they aren’t.

“Rhodes, what do you see?” I hear one of them yell.
