“I have to agree,” I add. “The survival part seemed to overshadow the actual love story. It kind of felt that when they fell in love, it was rushed, like the author forgot to add that part and just squeezed it in.”

We all continue to discuss the ups and downs of the story as we sip on our coffee. Finally, I get a text message from Kara letting me know what time the limo will be picking us up at her place tonight.

“All in all,” Fiona says. “I think that I’m looking for something a little bit lighter to read after that emotional roller coaster.”

“Does anyone have any suggestions for our next book?” Quinn asks.

“I have one,” I say.

Since I’ve been doing a lot of internet searches for bachelorette parties since Kara invited me, I’ve been targeted on social media for some romance books that involve weddings, specifically bridesmaids.

“Let’s hear it.” Jess smiles at me.

“It’s called,Kiss the Miss Goodbye.” I click on my tablet to pull up the book I’ve already purchased. I turn it around to show them the cover.

It shows five women looking disheveled and holding up police placards in what looks like mugshots. Each placard has the trope description of who the character is in the story—The Bride, Maid of Dishonor, Hot Mess, Cougar, and Diva. It's all set in one weekend in Vegas, and the trouble they get into that leads up to the wedding.

“I love this suggestion,” Courtney says. “How have I not heard of this book before?”

I shrug. “She’s a new author.”

“I vote yes,” Lily agrees.

Everyone else joins in on the excitement to read something a lot lighter.

Michelle nudges me with her shoulder. “Good suggestion.”

I’m glad that everyone is on board with my recommendation. I feel like I’m really a part of the book club, now that we are reading a book that I’ve suggested.

“Okay, that’s settled,” Quinn says to the table. “We will meet back here to discuss this book in two weeks.”
