Chapter One
Juliette
"This is our night, right?" he asks. "One perfect night in Vegas?"
"Exactly." Tonight is magic and fairy tales and fireworks. Tonight is everything.
Griffin reaches into his back pocket. "We're missing one part of the Vegas experience."
"What?"
He opens his hand.
It's sitting there, in the center of his palm:
A massive rock.
"Griff—"
"Marry me, Jules." He drops to one knee.
"But—" Fuck, that ring is huge. "We're drunk." It seems like a salient point.
"I know how I feel."
"How do you know?"
"I just do." His voice is steady. Sure. But Griff's voice is always sure. He's been my best friend since third grade. I know his voice, and this tone meanshell yes."I want to do this tonight." His dark eyes bore into mine. "I want to marry you tonight."
"Uh…" What the fuck? "What if you change your mind?"
"I won't."
"I…"
"It's a simple question, Jules." He holds up the ring. "Do you want to marry me or not?"
Chapter Two
Griffin
Three Days Ago
Jules: The wedding is off.
That's it. That's the entire message.
I stare at my cell for a full minute, waiting for my best friend to offer a follow up.
She doesn't.
Those four words stay on my screen.
The wedding is off.
No explanation. No detail. No insight to her feelings.
Only four words that change everything.
