"You have a glow, Keating." He leans back, easy breezy. "You finally trade up to a flesh light?"

"You sound like my brother."

He chuckles. "Like mine too." His voice drops to something more serious. "Is there a girl?"

"Since when do you think I'm capable of moving on?"

He chuckles. "I live for surprises."

I match his laugh. I should have a better sense of humor about my misery. I try. It just doesn't happen.

"So…" He arches a brow. Leans in to whisper distance. "Who was she?"

"Don't remember saying there was someone."

"Why else would there be a spring in your step?"

I shrug like I don't know. Wait for thedrip-drip-dripof the machine to finish. Hand Forest his coffee and the box of fixings.

He nodsthanks. "Don't tell me it's about the design. I know that look."

"I have that look."

He chucklesyeah right. "What was she like?"

"Sweet." I can't deny this. I'm not supplying all the details, but it's not like he's asking.

"Ah." He smiles. "There is someone."

"Yeah." I'm imagining the third degree. This is normal. My friend giving me a hard time the way he always does. That's all it is.

"You finally got laid?"

I can't help but laugh.

"Took you long enough, Keating." He stands and pats me on the back.

Which attracts the attention of my little brother.

What the hell is he doing here? He's not scheduled to work until later.

Wes skips to us. He looks from me to Forest then back to me. "Why's Chase in a good mood?"

"He got laid," Forest says.

My cheeks flush. God, I don't talk about my life like this. It's too much attention.

"Holy shit. Look at that." Wes reaches for my cheek.

I slap his hand away. "Watch it."

"Ohh, he's all pissy about it." Wes presses his hand to his heart. "How cute."

Forest nodsyeah.

"You like this girl?" Wes asks. "Oh, was it—" His gaze shifts to Forest. Realization spreads over his face. "Oh."

Fuck.
