"Oh?" Forest asks.
"Yeah, I just, uh… it was the chick you were talking about the other day." Wes nodsgo with me. "The one who confessed her need for a strong hand."
He's making this worse.
I shrug. "This was more recent."
"Look at you." Wes pats my shoulder. "All casual about finally getting laid. Like it hasn't been two years."
"It's not a big deal." Okay, it is. But that's not something we need to discuss.
"Oh shit." Wes's smile drops.
My stomach clenches. He's smarter than this. He's smarter than he looks.
"You had to pay for it." He tries to hold a poker face, but it cracks immediately.
Forest laughs so hard his cup shakes. Coffee spills over the sides.
He reaches outstop, but he keeps laughing.
"Fuck." Forest barely makes it through his words. "That's… fuck… can you imagine?"
My shoulders relax. Wes is a genius. He's distracting Forest from the actual situation.
Fuck, I need to buy my brother dinner or something.
Maybe a trophy that saysyou're an asshole, but you're a helpful one.
"Imagine, what? Why else would a woman touch Chase? Sure, he has those Keating good looks. And, well…" Wes raises a brow.
"Well…?" Forest laughs. "Is that supposed to be something about how everyone knows Keating men are good fucks?"
"I was gonna say well-endowed, but I don't like to brag." Wes winks.
"You forget who you like flirting with?" I ask.
"That was for Emma." He turns and blows the store manager/Hunter's girlfriend a kiss. "You know what's up."
She flips him the bird. "Why are you here?"
"To see your beautiful face," he says.
"What's your girlfriend think about that?" she asks.
"We're secure in our relationship." His smile gets dreamy. That Quinn smile of his.
It's disgusting. Usually.
Right now, it's not so bad. Cute. Sweet even.
I want him to be happy.
I want Hunter and Emma to be happy.
I want the whole world to be happy.
What the fuck?
