"She looked pretty pissed when she walked out of the party," Hunter says.
I nodyeah.
"Forest too."
"You know how that goes."
He chucklesdon't I. "I've talked to him."
"Do I want to know?"
He nodsyeah. "It's not as bad as it looks."
"You promise?"
"Yeah, but then again, I could be fucking with you."
"I'd deserve it."
He nodsyeah, you do. "Good thing I'm a bigger person."
"Too bad Wes isn't here to comment on that."
His laugh is easy. "Fuck, how did he ever win over Quinn?"
"Maybe he's as good as he says."
Hunter's nose scrunches.Gross. "I think she likes his personality too."
"No accounting for taste," I say.
Hunter stands. Offers me his hand. "Let me help. With Ariel."
"I should be the one helping you."
"Yeah, but let's be real, Chase. You need a lot more fucking help."
I stand. Hold out my hand.
He pulls me into a close hug.
He's right. I do need help.
For once, I'm accepting it. "Tell me you have a plan."
"Yeah, but you're not going to like it."
Chapter Fifty-Seven
Ariel
As promised, I give my brother a week.
For seven days, I ignore my cell, I focus on work, I stay off social media.
Day eight, I wake up to a letter on the dining table. There's a Post-it note on the envelope.
Dropped this off. Give him a chance.
