I need a response. Now. "It's a lot to consider." I open my laptop. So we can get started. I need to stay on task or I'm going to ask him to take off his clothes.

"You have a site in mind?"

"I already started."

He chuckles. "Of course."

"It's all rough. I figured… you're better with people than I am."

"That's the first time anyone has ever said that."

"It's true though."

His chuckle deepens. "Maybe." He stands, moves around the table, sits next to me.

"Definitely."

"That's sad for you."

"It's my cross to bear." I offer him a smile.

He smiles back.

I melt.

Chase's blue eyes fix on my laptop screen. He reads my profile like his life depends on it.

His toes tap the tile floor.

His fingers curl around his drink.

He wraps his lips around the straw. Finds only melted ice.

I should buy him another round. Offer that immediately. Do something besides stare at his soft lips, wondering what they'd feel like on my neck.

I may not be the most experienced woman in the world, but I'm not a blushing virgin either. My high school boyfriend and I did a lot. We helped each other learn the basics, so to speak.

Then there was a fling my first year of college. Not that I realized it. At the time, I thought the (way out of my league senior quarterback) guy wanted the same thing I did.
