It's pounding like a drum.

Ariel's eyes meet mine. She studies my expression. She must notice something, because her brow furrows. "Is this too much—"

"No." Maybe. I push off the door. Suck a breath through my teeth. I can do this. I want to do this. I really do.

She traces a line down my body, stopping at my crotch. "You're still—"

"Yeah."

"But you…"

"Here—" I turn the main light off. Turn the string lights on. I told Griffin he was an idiot when he insisted on the decor. But I have to admit, he was right.

The soft white glow makes the room feel like something out of a movie. Sweet. Romantic. Fantastical.

It draws a line between the bed I shared with Grace and the bed that's all mine.

I focus on the things that make the room mine. The soft lights. The black curtains. The black sheets.

Ariel staring with confusion in her eyes.

Fuck, even though she's flushed and wanting, her expression is the picture of patience. Like she's ready to wait forever if that's what it takes.

It's not.

I just—

I roll my shoulders back. Suck a breath through my teeth. Push out a slow exhale.

Her voice is soft. "If you want to stop—"

"Fuck no." I'm here. In this moment. Only this moment. "Take off your bra—"

"Are you sure?"

"Now."

She hesitates for a moment. Then something switches in her eyes. She nodsyes, reaches around her back, unhooks her bra.

She brings one hand to her chest. Holds the black lace in place as the straps fall off her shoulders.

God damn, is she really this demure or is she playing it up for me?

My eyes go to hers. The desire in those soulful browns. The flush in those round cheeks. The part of her red lips.

God dammit, I need those lips on me.

I need those clothes on the floor.

I need her sprawled out under me.

Onmyblack sheets.

Inmyspace.
