I can imagine the tingles and desire coursing through my body are for him.
I can allow myself to be swept away thinking that tonight could have a good outcome. That I could have the fun I was hoping for when I agreed to come.
But I know it’s not going to happen.
Drinks arrive courtesy of Matt once more, and I eagerly drink down every one he hands over.
My head spins a little more with every sip and reality soon begins to melt away.
Although,henever does.
He remains wherever he is, just watching like a creepy fucking psycho.
Whatever.
I turn back to the guy—Leo, I think I heard Matt call him—and stare up into his eyes.
“I’m so fucking glad I came tonight,” he slurs, his eyes bouncing between mine.
“Yeah?”
Verdict’s still very much out on whether I’m regretting my appearance or not. The night is still young.
“Yeah, but I need to tell you something.”
My heart drops a little. If I find out he’s one of Kane’s crew and that he’s been playing me, I’m going to bitch slap him.
I wonder briefly if there’s something wrong with me because I’m more concerned about that than I am of him possibly about to confess he’s got a girl.
He leans into me and my breath catches in my throat as his races against my ear and sends a shiver skating down my spine.
“I need to pee.”
I throw my head back and laugh, the tension that momentarily locked up my muscles immediately gone.
“Go,” I say, pressing my hand to his chest.
“Don’t go anywhere,” he warns, his eyes dropping down my body.
“As if.” I roll my eyes and he laughs as he backs away from me.
I try to fight it. But the second he turns and gets swallowed up by the crowd, I feel vulnerable.
I keep moving in time with everyone else around me, but they’re all coupled up and I feel like an idiot. I’m just about to push my way through the crowd to go and get a drink when the lights go out and everything falls silent.
What the—
The second a body presses against my back, I know my time is up.
My lips part, ready to scream but I don’t get a chance to make a sound because a giant hand covers half my face as my feet are lifted from the ground.
I thrash in his hold, kicking my legs and flailing my arms, hoping that I’ll make contact with him, hurt him, anything, for him to put me the fuck down.
He navigates out of the house as if the entire place isn’t in darkness. I can barely see the people in front of us, let alone the exit, but it doesn’t seem to bother him.
In only a few short seconds, the cool outside air hits my skin.
Sky’s house is on the edge of the Harrow Creek woods and the thought of him taking me into the darkness and killing me has a renewed surge of energy flowing through my limbs and I fight harder.
