He raises a brow as if to say, ‘we walked in, every motherfucker knows we’re here.’ “Kyle’s with Harley.”

“Course he is,” I chuckle. That boy’s got the bluest balls for baby Hunter. Too bad he’s too much of a pussy and scared of her big brother or he’d have made a move years ago.

“You gonna let that happen?” Devin asks from behind his bottle.

“Of course. My issue isn’t with Harley. Kyle can do whatever he likes.”

Turning my back on them, I grab another beer and storm out of the room.

They’re supposed to be keeping an eye on her so she doesn’t escape, but they all seem to be talking to me in an entirely different room.

They don’t get it, I know that. But they need to fucking listen.

The warnings they’ve given me fall on deaf ears.

While they might give her a free pass for what went down. I won’t.

She’s screwed me over one too many times and it’s time for her to pay.

I slip into the living room. I want to say I go unnoticed, but I’m Kane fucking Legend, barely anything I do in Harrow Creek goes unnoticed. Eyes follow my every move.

I nod at a few guys while their girls blatantly check me out as I pass. But no matter how beautiful they might be, I have no interest in them.

I’ve got my sights solely set on one woman tonight.

I finally get to a spot where I can remain hidden while watching her—exactly what my brothers should be doing—and look up. I find Harley and Kyle instantly where they’re laughing and dancing together. I roll my eyes at the goofy smile I find on Kyle’s face and rip my eyes away, more interested in the older Hunter sister.

But she’s gone.

“Fuck,” I breathe, scanning the room, looking for a glimpse of her dark hair.

Knowing she wouldn’t have left Harley behind for the wolves, I set off through the house, more than ready to make my move.

It’s been a long fucking time coming.

Chapter Three

Letty

My heart is racing as I bolt through the house to find somewhere to catch my breath.

My hands tremble as I take in the long line for the upstairs bathroom once more.

“Fuck this,” I mutter, walking to the end of the hallway and blasting through Sky’s parents’ bedroom door. It’s off-limits tonight and everyone knows it—although most will ignore it.

The room is still as it should be as I make my way through and directly to the en suite on the other side.

I close the door and lock it behind me, dragging in a lungful of air as I turn my back to the wood.

“This is not happening,” I mutter to myself. Although, I don’t know why I’m really surprised, or why I believed Sky when she said he wouldn’t be here.

I don’t think she lied to me. Our friendship might not be what it once was, but she wouldn’t knowingly hurt me, or willingly hand me over to him.

The bass of the music from downstairs vibrates through the floor.

My cell burns a hole in my purse. It would be so easy to message Harley and get the hell out of here, preferably before I have to see him.

But why should I run? I didn’t actually do anything wrong.
